Fans of the Bayonetta series endured a torturous wait for the release of Bayonetta 3, as the game was not released until after its development had been ongoing for a period of five years. Despite this, the wait was unquestionably well worth it.

The game is the third installment in a series of games that first came out in 2009 and gained a following thanks to its distinctive approach to hack-and-slash action (not to mention the distinctive design of the main character, who is sort of the ultimate waifu). This approach was perfected in the second part, even bringing the character to the Super Smash Bros. roster, and while some sequels fall short of the previous one, the time it took to arrive, really served to make something perfect even cooler.

Bayonetta 3: Better Than Ever

Bayonetta 3 is a hack-and-slash action game like its predecessors. Players control the main character, Bayonetta, as she fights different enemies with combo hits and some special weapons (also using the help from some demons who make deals with her – and which the player can now control by performing special moves and actions). Viola is a new player you can control in this game who has her own way of fighting.

If you’ve never played a Bayonetta game before, get ready for madness and a really unique way of telling a story. The prologue of the story is an epic anime where you interact casually and are then thrown into your first few fights, which will teach you how to play the game in a chaotic way. Simply put, there are cinematic transitions in the game that make everything look like a movie until the dust settles and you enter a slightly open world to explore as you follow the story.

The concept of the “multiverse,” which has already been used a lot in our time, is a new addition to the series. It fits perfectly into the story of the game, which doesn’t change what happened in the last game but instead gives fans something new that they won’t be disappointed by.

At the beginning, we see Bayonetta fight against a Singularity to stop it from destroying her world. However, she loses to the enemy and is killed while her friend Viola watches. She has a device that lets her travel through universes. She gets away by going to a universe where Bayonetta is fighting a monster in New York. After they win, Viola explains that the Homunculi are destroying universes, so they go on an adventure to save different realities.

Not only does the action stay the same, with a simple learning flow that doesn’t overwhelm the player and lets the player move along with the character, but the story has twists and the usual craziness of the series, including direct references to the first games. recognizing that it is there.

Even though the Nintendo Switch has limited graphics, the game looks good because each sequence has a lot of detail (though it can be too much at times). However, the story and the way it surprises the player are what really make the game stand out. It reminds us that a fun experience is more important than advanced graphics.

On the other hand, Bayonetta is coming to handheld mode with the Nintendo Switch. If you don’t want to show all the “sexy,” there is a new option to reduce Bayonetta’s “show” and reduce the blood, which makes him friendlier to others. not-so-adult audiences.

It’s worth it?

Without a doubt, yes. Even though we don’t usually use points, we’d give this a 9.5 out of 10 just for the graphics problem (which is Nintendo’s fault), but it’s a must-have this year and should be in every collection.
