Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and All Updates

Grey’s Anatomy season 19

ABC has confirmed that Grey’s Anatomy season 19 will return. “Grey’s Anatomy” has been on the air for so long that it’s getting hard to remember when it wasn’t. The medical drama started in 2005 and is now in its 18th season. Grey’s Anatomy season 19 is already in the works, so it doesn’t look like it will slow down any time soon. The Shonda Rhimes-created series follows the personal and professional lives of the medical staff at Seattle’s Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Ellen Pompeo plays Dr. Meredith Grey.

Even though “Grey’s Anatomy” has good ratings and successful spin-offs, it’s not clear how long ABC can keep the show going. This is especially true since lead actor and producer Ellen Pompeo said last year that she was trying to convince the show’s producers behind the scenes that it was time to end (via Insider). Fans can at least look forward to Grey’s Anatomy season 19 of the drama, and here is everything they need to know so far about it.

What’s This TV Show About?

Grey’s Anatomy is a TV show that airs on the ABC network. Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Kelly McCreary, Kim Raver, Jake Borelli, Chris Carmack, Richard Flood, Scott Speedman, and Anthony Hill are some of the actors who appear on the show. Kate Walsh, Alex Landi, Juicy Elliot, Peter Gallagher, Zaiver Sinnett, Sylvia Kwan, Abigail Spencer, and Kate Burton will all be back for season 18.

The long-running series is about the personal and professional lives of the surgical residents, fellows, and attendings in the surgical wing of the fictional Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle, Washington. They look to each other for comfort, and sometimes they want more than just friendship.

Ellen Pompeo will be returning for Grey’s Anatomy Season 19

Like any show that has been on for a long time, “Grey’s Anatomy season 19” has had a lot of cast changes, but Ellen Pompeo has always played Dr. Meredith Grey. With the actor recently saying that she thought it was time to end the show, it was unclear if she would come back for Season 19, but Pompeo just signed a contract to do so (via Deadline).

Chandra Wilson, who plays Miranda Bailey, and James Pickens Jr., who plays Richard Webber, will also be back. The two actors and Pompeo are the only original cast members of “Grey’s Anatomy” who are still with the show.

ABC says that the plot of Grey’s Anatomy season 19 will “explore the ever-expanding world of modern medicine through the eyes of beloved returning characters and new characters,” but no other details about the story have been released yet.

Season 18 has been back since February, but it still needs to end. One thing we know about the plot is that Season 19 will take place in a world after COVID-19, just like Season 18 did after Season 17 was mostly about the pandemic.

Grey’s Anatomy season 19 doesn’t have a release date yet, but fans can probably expect it to start sometime in the fall, which is when the show usually starts a new season.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Release Date

ABC has picked up the show for a 19th season. On January 10, 2022, the Disney-owned network announced that the longest-running primetime medical drama series on television would be back for its nineteenth season.

Did they stop making Grey’s Anatomy? Not even close! As was already said, the longest-running medical drama series, which is in its 18th season, has already been picked up for another season before the current one is over. If the past is any guide, Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 will come out in late September or early October 2022.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Cast

Here is the probable cast of Grey’s Anatomy season 19:

  • Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey
  • Chandra Wilson as Dr. Miranda Bailey
  • James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber
  • Kevin McKidd as Dr. Owen Hunt
  • Kim Raver as Dr. Teddy Altman
  • Camilla Luddington as Dr. Josephine “Jo” Wilson
  • Caterina Scorsone as Dr. Amelia Shepherd
  • Kelly McCreary as Dr. Maggie Pierce
  • Chris Carmack as Dr. Atticus “Link” Lincoln
  • Jake Borelli as Dr. Levi Schmitt
  • Richard Flood as Dr. Cormac Hayes
  • Anthony Hill as Dr. Winston Ndugu
  • Richard Flood as Dr. Cormac Hayes
  • Scott Speedman as Dr. Nick Marsh
  • Jason George as Dr. Ben Warren
  • Alex Landi as Dr. Nico Kim

Which cast members are returning for Grey’s Anatomy season 19?

So far, only Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, is confirmed to be back for Season 19. Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey, and James Pickens Jr., who plays Dr. Richard Webber, should also be back after signing new multi-year contracts in May 2021.

Kim Raver, who plays Dr. Teddy Altman, Camilla Luddington, who plays Dr. Jo Wilson, and Kevin McKidd, who plays Dr. Owen Hunt, all signed three-year contracts in 2019 that will keep them on the show through Grey’s Anatomy season 19. But that doesn’t mean their characters will live that long. Grey’s is known for killing off characters whose actors still have time left on their contracts. With Owen’s fate still up in the air after the mid-season finale of Season 18, McKidd hasn’t said yet if he’ll be back for Season 19.

No one has said yet if the rest of the Season 18 cast will be back for Season 19, but it seems likely that most of them will. Kelly McCreary, who plays Dr. Maggie Pierce, Caterina Scorsone, who plays Dr. Amelia Shepherd, Jake Borelli, who plays Dr. Levi Schmitt, Chris Carmack, who plays Dr. Atticus Lincoln, Richard Flood, who plays Dr. Cormac Hayes, Anthony Hill, who plays Dr. Winston Ndugo, and Scott Speedman, who plays Dr. Nick Marsh, are all regulars on the show for Season 18.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 is happening on ABC

At one point, it seemed like the show might end after 18 seasons and 400 episodes. But that’s not going to happen.

The Hollywood Reporter says that ABC picked up Grey’s Anatomy season 19 in January. Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr. will all be back for the 19th season.

Even though the show is coming back, there is still a lot we don’t know about season 19, like when it will start, who will be in it, how many episodes there will be, and more. Grey’s Anatomy usually starts a new season in late September. As season 18 nears its end and the summer approaches, ABC, the cast, and the crew should give more details about the next season.

ABC hasn’t said for sure that Grey’s Anatomy season 19 will be the last, so fans are already hoping it will be brought back for season 20.

Grey’s Anatomy season 19 trailer Updates

Not yet, and probably not for a while. Check back here for updates, though.

What Will The Plot Of Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Be About?

In Grey’s Anatomy season 19 the network says, “Through the eyes of beloved returning characters and new ones, the show will look at the world of modern medicine as it grows and changes.”

This is true for every season of the show, so this vague statement doesn’t tell us anything about what to expect this season in particular. That makes sense, since Season 18 is still going on, and if history is any guide, the show will have a few surprises up its sleeve before Season 19 starts in the fall of 2019.

We can’t be sure, but we might guess that, like Season 18, Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy will take place in a made-up world after COVID. Season 17 was mostly about the coronavirus pandemic.

Season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy is set in a world that is different from our own. Before each episode, a disclaimer says, “This season, Grey’s Anatomy shows a fictional world after a pandemic that represents our hopes for the future.” The epidemic is still causing a lot of trouble for doctors.”

What To Expect On ‘Grey’s Anatomy Season 19

ABC says that Grey’s Anatomy season 19 will “look at the constantly changing world of modern medicine through the eyes of both returning favorites and brand-new ones.” Deadline also said that Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr., who were all in the first season, will be back. Because of their contracts, other fan favorites like Kim Raver, Camilla Luddington, and Kevin McKidd are also likely to play the same roles again. Even though Pompeo agrees with critics who say the show has nothing more to say, she was told that no one would care anyway.

“I’ve been trying to convince everyone that it should end,” the actress said getting everyone to agree that the show should be over. “I feel like I’m the only one who keeps asking, “But what’s the story going to be? What’s the story we’re going to tell?” I think I’m the most naive one. Everyone is like, “What does it matter, Ellen? It brings in a lot of money.'” She also makes $20 million a year from playing Meredith Grey. Because of this, Pompeo is now worth a total of $80 million.

But Pompeo said that staying on Grey’s has hurt her career, even though she is the third-highest-paid TV actress in Hollywood. She doesn’t even think she’ll get many jobs after the show ends. “Probably not movies,” she told Audacy’s Check-In. “I don’t work in movies.” “Before, if you were on a network for too long, you were literally going to die. This is definitely not the case anymore, so I probably won’t stream movies, but I will probably stream some TV.”

Will Grey’s Anatomy season 19 be the last season?

People have been saying for years that each new season of Grey’s will be the last, but ABC has always said that they’ll keep airing new episodes as long as the show’s creators are willing to make them. But Pompeo seems to be getting less and less interested in playing the same character she has since 2005.

She told Insider in December 2021, “I’ve been trying to get everyone to agree that it should end.” But it sounds like the people she’s talking to aren’t on board with her plan to end the series. She said, “I feel like I’m the only one who keeps asking, “But what’s the story going to be? What story are we going to tell?” I feel like I’m the only one who isn’t very smart.” “And everyone is like, ‘Who cares, Ellen? It brings in a lot of money.'”

So, Grey’s Anatomy season 19 could be the last time we see Meredith, but you shouldn’t bet on it just yet. If Grey’s Anatomy has taught us anything, it’s that we shouldn’t give up on Meredith Grey too soon.

What Fans Really Feel About ‘Grey’s Anatomy Season 19

Many fans agree with ABC that Grey’s is “Even though it might be running out of storylines soon, it is still one of the most popular shows on network TV. This is a bad example, but I think it fits… I still watch The Walking Dead every time Netflix adds a new season “said a Reddit user. “I’ve been through some bad seasons, and a lot of the cool characters have died or been taken away, but I don’t know, I still watch. It’s just stupid TV. The same for Grey’s.” Ouch. But they’re right.

The new fans are really looking forward to Grey’s Anatomy season 19. “I’ve been watching it for a few years now. I watch it with other programs, “another fan wrote. “I’m currently on S10, and I plan to finish it. I still have 8 seasons to watch, but I think I’ll make it to 18 and hope that 19 is on the way (or has come by the time I get there lol). Even though it’s not an “amazing show,” it’s a great comfort.” We’re sure that ABC has a formula for that level of comfort.

Fans are starting to think that Pompeo is not a good actress, which is a problem. They think that after being on the show for so long, she must be tired. Fans think that Pompeo has “all the leverage and more power” to renegotiate her contract every year from now on, even though her character has “almost no direct effect on the plots going on at the main hospital.” They think that she “probably doesn’t mind making $20 million a year” and that “you can’t knock 19 seasons of a hit show because many actors would die for that.”
