This Optimus Human Robot Costs Less Than Tesla Car
Optimus, Elon Musk’s humanoid robot specialized in completing “repetitive and dull” duties for humans, is closer than ever, and the world now has access to the first prototype of his new creation.
Musk debuted his innovation on the sidelines of Tesla’s AI Day, precisely as he promised a few months ago when he announced he would show off a functional prototype of his new product. Not only that, but Tesla’s self-proclaimed Techno-King divulged key information such as the fact that it will be sold for “probably less than 20,000 dollars” and released in three or five years.
During the presentation, two Optimus models were displayed. The first is a disassembled prototype with no exterior casing and all visible cables that can move. His name is Bumble C, and he is a “raw development robot,” according to Musk, who will eventually become what Optimus plans to be.

The second was a fully covered but non-operational model that required assistance from Tesla staff to move for its debut. Despite the critics, Musk sees this as a positive step.
“The robot can accomplish considerably more than what we’ve just demonstrated,” said the world’s richest man. “From parcel delivery to factory job to becoming the ultimate gardener.” Will it come to pass?
Optimus, the solution to boring and monotonous tasks
Optimus human robot that Elon Musk hopes would be capable of performing “mundane” duties such as grocery shopping. It was first presented in August last year during Tesla’s inaugural AI Day.
According to the billionaire, the humanoid robot, also known as the Tesla Bot, has immense potential, and its sales might outnumber those of the vehicles it makes in a matter of time.
Musk hopes that his creation will address labor shortage gaps, which could be highly useful for many businesses, especially since the entrepreneur thinks that his robot would not be too expensive. Despite the CEO of Tesla’s hopeful outlook, other experts believe that the introduction of robots in the workplace will put many people who perform simple jobs in factories or warehouses out of work, as well as significantly reduce the workforce.

Optimus will stand roughly 173 centimeters (5 feet 8 inches) tall, weigh around 57 kilograms, and have a payload capacity of up to 20 kg, according to the presentation made during the 2021 AI event.
The same artificial intelligence technologies that Tesla is creating for use in its electric automobiles will control Optimus, which was designed by a team of mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineers.
“Essentially, physical labor will be an option in the future,” Musk stated in the presentation. ” Tesla is possibly the world’s largest robotics company. Our automobiles are essentially semi-intelligent robots on wheels.”
While the advertisement appears to be promising, Musk has a history of displaying things that are only prototypes, basically selling a concept before it exists. In any event, his statements are critical for robotics fans, as the story has spread quickly around the world.

People interested and skilled in the creation of Artificial Intelligence, on the other hand, claim it is practically impossible for a robot to complete all human duties by the end of 2023, as Musk estimates.
Critics claim that even Boston Dynamics, an American engineering and robotics firm with nearly three decades of experience developing and building robots, could not have accomplished this.
For these folks, believing that Tesla, which has not yet completed the development of autonomous driving in its vehicles (and has been in the eye of the storm for years owing to repeated accidents involving its autopilot), will succeed is absurd.
Similarly, it is impossible to avoid mentioning Musk’s apparent determination to shift the conversation to these types of topics, some of which are less negative, such as the recent suspension of the purchase of Twitter due to the issue of bots, the elimination of the home office for Tesla employees, and the most recent announcement about the reduction of 10% of the company’s personnel. Is it possible that Optimus Prime is becoming a reality, or is he merely a cloud of smoke?
