The remaining $55 million in Messi’s estimated earnings came from licensing and sponsorship partnerships with companies like Socios, Adidas, Budweiser, and Pepsi. In August, Messi switched from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain. In the same month, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United from Juventus.

Ronaldo, who has more Instagram followers than anybody else on the planet, earned $55 million in “off-field” income last year, according to Forbes. Nike, Herbalife, and Clear shampoo are among the brands Ronaldo has sponsored.
