Elon Musk is now Twitter’s formal chief executive officer. Musk acted swiftly to fire Parag Agrawal as CEO and other executives after completing the acquisition of the social platform late on Thursday. Musk’s internal Twitter profiles, including the business directory and Slack, have been updated to include the CEO designation as of Saturday afternoon, two sources familiar with the revisions told Insider.
A few days prior to the closing of the purchase, Elon Musk altered his Twitter bio to read “Chief Twit”. He told employees in a June meeting that he anticipated to be Twitter’s leader, but that the title of CEO did not matter to him.
He stated at the time, “I don’t really care what my title is, but obviously, people do need to listen to me.” In addition to his leadership roles at SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company, Musk is the CEO of Tesla, where his formal title is “Technoking.” Musk is also a key figure at Neuralink and The Boring Company.
Since taking over Twitter, Musk has been met with silence from staff. As revealed by Insider, he and his personal team of executives and helpers are shifting operations under Musk’s supervision and contemplating layoffs.
