Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has stated that receiving the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award is an honor for him and that he looks forward to continuing to work with people across India to help them use technology to achieve more. Nadella, who wants to visit India in January, was presented with the medal for exemplary service last week by India’s Consul General in San Francisco, Dr. T V Nagendra Prasad.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, 55, was named one of 17 recipients earlier this year.
“It’s an honor to receive a Padma Bhushan Medal and to be recognized with so many outstanding people,” Nadella stated upon collecting the award. I’m grateful to India’s President, Prime Minister, and people, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to help them leverage technology to achieve more.” During the meeting, Nadella and Prasad discussed the crucial role of digital technology in enabling inclusive growth in India. According to Microsoft, the debate centered on India’s growth trajectory and the country’s potential to be a worldwide political and technological leader.
“We are living in a historic time of economic, societal, and technical upheaval,” Nadella remarked after meeting with Dr Prasad.
“Digital technology will define the next decade.” “Indian industries and organizations of all sizes are turning to technology to help them achieve more with less, resulting in more innovation, agility, and resilience,” Nadella added.
Nadella, who was born in Hyderabad, was appointed CEO of Microsoft in February 2014. He was also named the company’s Chairman in June 2021, an additional role in which he would oversee the work to determine the board’s agenda.
The Padma Awards are one of India’s highest civilian honors, presented annually on the eve of Republic Day.
Padma Vibhushan (for extraordinary and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher rank), and Padma Shri are the three categories of awards (distinguished service). The award attempts to recognize accomplishments in any activity or discipline that involves an aspect of public service.
The Padma Awards are given out based on the recommendations of the Padma Awards Committee, which is appointed by the Prime Minister each year.
According to Microsoft, Nadella wants to visit India in January 2023, his first visit to the nation in nearly three years.
