Trump Says “No Interest” after His Twitter Account Reinstated

Elon Musk restored former president Donald Trump’s Twitter account on Saturday night.

“The conversation is over. Trump will get his job back. Vox Populi, Vox Dei is a Latin term that meaning “the voice of the people, the voice of God,” Musk wrote on Twitter.”

However, Donald Trump said on Saturday that he had no interest in returning to Twitter.

Musk asked Twitter users if he should unban the former president in a vote he published online on Friday, and as a result, Trump’s account was restored. Trump urged his supporters to support him in the poll, which he ultimately won, in a post on his own social media platform, Truth Social.

The people have spoken.

Trump will be reinstated.

Total 51.8% of users chose yes in the end, while 48.2% chose no. Trump’s follower count appears to have been reset, and it is unknown if more users will be added. When questioned about Musk’s recent poll regarding Trump’s blocked account, Trump indicated earlier on Saturday that he would not use Twitter again even if his account were reinstated.

Trump boasted about his own startup social media company, saying, “Truth Social is through the roof, it’s doing fantastically well.” “And I’m going to stay there.”

In the aftermath of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, the former president was expelled from the location. At the time, Twitter management stated that the suspension was implemented out of concern for future incitement to violence.

Trump later established Truth Social, which he hailed as a forum for conservatives and a counterweight to liberal media. Twitter blocked Trump’s account for 12 hours on January 6, 2021, and it also deleted a number of tweets that the company deemed to be in “serious breach” of its rules.

Trump has been welcomed back to the platform that launched his political career. He became a staple of his presidency now that Musk is in charge of Twitter.

Because Trump shared a clip from “Fox & Friends” in which he asserted that youngsters were immune to COVID-19, Twitter momentarily suspended Trump’s account.

Trump praised Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, which was completed on October 27 following a protracted legal dispute.

Initially certain that he wouldn’t return to the platform, Trump frequently expressed dissatisfaction with the way he had been “handled” by the business. However, Twitter, one of the biggest social media sites in the world, undoubtedly affords the former president a larger audience. He has little over 4.3 million followers on Truth Social, compared to his nearly 80 million followers on Twitter.

Trump’s platform, Truth Social, is also dealing with legal problems. According to a whistleblower who reported the matter to the authorities, Trump Media & Technology Group, which serves as the platform’s parent firm, made “fraudulent misrepresentations” in order to generate money.

Musk previously asserted that Twitter was unjustly restricting free speech, causing observers to fear that under his leadership, hate speech and misinformation may flourish despite the fact that Twitter already monitors and moderates such content.
