Venice Film Festival 2022: 10 Movies You Must Watch
The 79th Venice Film Festival 2022 is scheduled to begin on August 31 and continue September 10. Some of the most-anticipated movies in Venice Film Festival 2022 that have a good chance of winning awards next year will be shown there.
Venice has been one of the most important film festivals for a long time. Films that are shown there go on to win Oscars and do well at the box office. It’s not Cannes, but it’s just as important, and the titles that are shown this year are crazy.
This year’s movies include a controversial story about Marilyn Monroe, a movie about cannibalism, Alejandro González Iárritu’s new project in Mexico, and a movie with Harry Styles and Florence Pugh that takes place in a strange, perfect community where nothing is what it seems.
During the festival, new dramas, thrillers, short films, and documentaries will be shown. There are quite a few stories that you won’t want to miss.
The movies you can’t miss at the Venice Film Festival 2022:
Don’t Worry Darling
Director: Olivia Wilde
Wilde is back to directing with a mystery thriller starring Hary Styles and Florence Pugh. Some parts of the movie will remind you of Suspiria, which was directed by Luca Guadagnino. The movie is about a perfect couple who move to a perfect town. Pugh’s character soon realizes that things aren’t what they seem to be and that place could be very dangerous, but he has to find out what it is to find out the truth. real or if everything is in your head, as they want you to think.
White Noise
Director: Noah Baumbach
This is the new movie from the person who made Marriage Story, which was nominated for an Oscar. Variety says that it is based on Don Delillo’s 1985 novel and that the main characters are Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig. The movie will be on Netflix soon, and it could be one of its new Oscar contenders.
Blonde
Director: Andrew Dominic
Ana de Armas brings this controversial film with her to the Venice Film Festival. In it, she plays Marilyn Monroe with a surprising resemblance. The Blonde movie is based on a book by Joyce Carol Oates. It shows how the famous actress gave the world an image of perfection, but in private she went through trauma, pain, and feelings of insecurity. This is another film among the Netflix movies that will come out during the festival.
Bones and All
Director: Luca Guadagnino
After Call Me by Your Name, Guadagino and Timothée Chalamet worked together again in this movie, which has a cannibalistic theme. The Hollywood Reporter says that Taylor Russell plays Maren, a young woman who falls in love with a mysterious drifter who lives on the edge of the world and teaches her how to stay alive. The movie also stars Jessica Harper, Chlo Sevigny, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Mark Rylance.
Bardo
Director: Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu
This is one of the movies that sounds like it might be up for an Oscar in 2023. Bardo brought Iárritu back to Mexico and tells the story of a Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker who goes back to his home country to reconnect with himself, his family, his memories, his past, and the new reality of a country he no longer recognizes. everything he can to figure out who he is right now.
The Whale
Director: Darren Aronofsky
This new movie with Sadie Sink, Brendan Fraser, and Samantha Morton is also made by the same person who made Mother! The story is about a professor who is so fat that he has to stay locked up in his house. He wants to make one last attempt to connect with his daughter, whom he hasn’t seen in years, though he knows it will be hard.
The Son
Director: Florian Zeller
This is kind of a sequel to The Father, which was one of the best movies of 2020. The Son stars Anthony Hopkins, Hugh Jackman, Vanessa Kirby, and Laura Dern, and the synopsis says: “Peter’s busy life with his new partner Emma and their baby falls apart when his ex-wife Kate shows up with their teenage son Nicholas.”
The Banshees of Inisherin
Director: Martin McDonagh
“Two people who have been friends for life find themselves in a bind when one of them suddenly breaks up with the other. This has scary effects on both of them.”
