The Flash movie, one of the following Warner Bros. projects that have already finished filming and is in post-production, could be canceled by the studio because of the recent actions of actor Ezra Miller, who has been accused of child abuse, physical violence, and most recently, a house robbery in Vermont. As these problems pile up, the studio is forced to make a choice about the movie in which he stars.
David Zaslav, who just took over as CEO of Discovery from Warner Bros., recently said that he was “excited” about the release of The Flash and confirmed that it would come out despite the Miller controversies. However, the recent federal indictment has caused problems for the company and makes it unclear what they will do with the project, which is set to come out on July 23, 2023.
The Hollywood Reporter said in a recent article that the studio is preparing for three possible outcomes, and the decision will be made based on Miller’s public image.
Warner has been told that Miller is currently living with his mother and getting help from a professional after moving back to his farm in Vermont. If that happens, the actor could do an interview to explain his actions and try to change the past. He or she would only have to make a few press appearances for The Flash, and the show would still start when it was supposed to.
If Miller doesn’t get help from a professional, the second case will happen. The Flash movie could come out, but the main character wouldn’t have to make public appearances or be in the spotlight which would certainly be a problem considering his character gives the film its name. In the same way, he would be fired from the part and a different actor would be hired to play him.
In the third case, there is still the nuclear option. Warner would take the film off Miller’s schedule and never let him work on it again if he doesn’t fix his problems and they get worse. This would be strange because the company would lose the 200 million dollars it put in without getting anything back.
On the other hand, this would be another problem for DC movies.
We need to talk about Ezra
Since a few years ago, Ezra Miller has been acting in strange ways. The man was accused of beating people in different places and getting in trouble with the law. However, the controversy grew when the parents of a young activist named Tokata Iron Eyes accused him of abusing her, giving her drugs, and keeping her in a dangerous place. Other reports have said that the actor has become violent and paranoid and that he also carries weapons with him most of the time.
Even if he gets better, he would need a lot of work on his public image to help the movie.
