Apple has introduced a servicing program for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users who are experiencing sound issues with their devices. Users have been complained about problems with the speaker on their iPhone 12 series handsets while making calls, which Apple has now recognized.
According to Apple, this issue may affect only iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro units made between October 2020 and April 2021. This is the first service program for the iPhone 12 series, which was released in October.
Apple has established a support page for the the service program. Those who have had problems with their speakers will be able to have their smartphones repaired for free.
This program only affects iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models, and Apple claims that the impacted devices were built between October 2020 and April 2021. However, the service program does not include the iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12 Pro Max. For two years following the first retail sale, the affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro models are covered by the program.
According to Apple, the problem could be caused by a component on the receiver module failing. That’s pretty much all Apple has to say about it. “Apple has found that a very small number of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may encounter sound issues,” according to the program page. “Your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro may be eligible for service if it does not transmit sound from the receiver when you make or receive calls,” it continues.
Affected iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro owners can locate an Apple Authorized Service Provider, schedule an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service through the Apple Repair Center. Apple recommends backing up your iPhone before repairing it, and adds that any damage to the phone, such as a cracked screen or other issues that could prevent the repair from being completed, must be rectified first.
This is a global Apple program that does not extend the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro’s basic warranty coverage. The company also specifies that it reserves the right to limit or prohibit repair to the country or region where the product was purchased.
