Did Tom Cruise consider being Iron Man?

Today, it’s hard to imagine that anyone but Robert Downey Jr. could play Tony Stark. But because of rumors, guesses, and the fact that the 59-year-old star didn’t completely deny it, fans started to believe it. They’ve thought for a long time that Tom Cruise was the first choice but turned it down, or that he was at least a strong plan B. Also, everyone knows that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron asked Marvel CEO Kevin Feige if Tom Cruise could make a cameo in the movie.

In the follow-up to Doctor Strange, there are a lot of “what-if” actors and old fan service: For example, Patrick Stewart comes back as Professor Charles Xavier in an alternate earth as the leader of the Illuminati, like the Avengers.

Some fans thought that Tom Cruise would finally play a superhero in a movie. “That was completely made up,” Cruise said. I mean, no Tom Cruise footage that was cut out!” Michael Waldron told Rolling Stone that fans were very sure that Tom Cruise’s cameo had been left in the courtroom, which Waldron said was not the case. “But I really like Tom Cruise, and at one point I asked Kevin Feige, ‘Could we have Tom Cruise as Iron Man?'”

Even though it might have been cool, it looks like the Mission: Impossible movies got in the way. Michael Waldron said, “Tom Cruise seems to have said in interviews that he was on the Iron Man team, but he told Comic Book that he was never as close as internet nerds might think.” “He wasn’t even close, and I love Robert Downey Jr. I can’t think of anyone else who would be good in that role, and I think it’s a great fit for him.”

But, hey, this doesn’t mean a firm “no.” With the multiverse, there are many ways to cast a role, so it’s still possible that Tom Cruise will play the Iron Man.
