With the Maserati MC20, the trident company makes a big comeback to the world of supercars — Maserati Project24. However, the Italian brand has a very clear new goal: to take over that world.

The Project24 is an exclusive racing supercar based on the beautiful Maserati MC20. Not only does it have a highly stylized design, but it also tries to get the most out of the MC20’s already powerful engine. The Maserati Project24 is made with a carbon fiber monocoque and has a carbon fiber body that looks very aggressive.

Maserati has only shown three rendered images so far, but these are enough to show extreme feelings and key parts of the redesign, like the very tall rear spoiler, the huge front splitter, and the square rear diffuser with exhaust pipes. The sleek two-door body has double headlights in the middle and a lot of air intakes and vents.

The Project24 has the same 3.0-liter Nettuno V-6 engine as the MC20. However, its new turbochargers boost the power to 740 horsepower, which is an increase of 119 horsepower compared to the MC20’s 621 horsepower (will he be able to break the 330 km/h barrier?).

The MC20’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been replaced with a six-speed sequential stroke gearbox with paddle shifters. The MC20’s electronically controlled limited-slip differential has also been replaced with a mechanical one.

Maserati Project24 will have rear-wheel drive

The Project24 will have rear-wheel drive like the MC20, and Maserati wants to keep the dry weight under 1,250 kg. This would make it about 226 kg lighter than the MC20. Even though the Project24 is a track car designed to be as light as possible, it will have air conditioning.

In the same way, the powerful Maserati Project24 will be about two inches wider than its road-going version. It will also have 18-inch forged aluminum wheels with expensive racing tires. Its ventilated Brembo brakes are made to stop quickly, and its unequal-length control-arm suspension with adjustable dampers and front and rear stabilizer bars make this super sports cars quick when racing down the street.

The Maserati Project24 is built to meet the safety standards of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). It has a roll cage inside the cabin, so it does a job that is very similar to that of the safety halo on Formula 1 single-seaters.

Inside this big muscle car, there will be racing seats with six-point harnesses, an adjustable pedal box and steering column, and a carbon fiber steering wheel with a built-in screen.

There are still customization options, but owners will also be able to add a rearview camera, an in-car camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, and telemetry recording.

How much will it cost to buy a Maserati Project24?

Maserati said that its new “rolling jewel” will be very rare because it only plans to make 62 of them, and it hasn’t said when they will go on sale.
