Tips on How to Stay Awake When You're Too Sleepy

Sleeping little has a series of consequences on the body and mind that should not be ignored, even if we do not notice them at first, but rather over the years.

Some of those that we all know, especially because we have experienced it many times,  have to do with a feeling of tiredness, for example, for which it is quite difficult to recover energy on a day when we do not sleep well and this little sleep side effects bring us to be just waiting for the passage of time so we can lie down again.

Of course, this is noticeable almost immediately because one night of poor sleep is enough to make us very tired the next day, but what about other side effects of poor sleep that we don’t see right away? For example, the emotional disturbances that this causes.

For example, according to this analysis, there is a correlation between more severe cases of insomnia in middle-aged people and cognitive problems when those people reached the age of majority — approximately in the period in which they process their retirement.

Some cognitive problems due to little sleep that were pointed out in this group of people were memory problems, concentration and difficulties in learning capacity, because sleeping poorly alters the brain and the fulfillment of its functions is affected over time.

In addition to this, little sleep side effects include difficulties in motor skills, decreased work efficiency and some emotional disorders such as the presence of anxiety and depression.

This is due to the fact that when we suffer from sleep deprivation, in the mind the processes that must be carried out during the hours of sleep are not carried out as they should and the retrieval and processing of information is not ideal, altering the chemistry of the brain and causing people feelings such as restlessness, insecurity and anguish. This, in addition, causes irritability, sweating, palpitations, tachycardia, suffocation, sensation of heat or cold, changes in blood pressure and much more.

When a person shows emotional disorders as a result of insomnia or poor sleep habits, the best thing to do is go to cognitive-behavioral therapy, in which a person can work with the causes behind these problems to rest. and thus start with new habits that allow you to better manage your emotions. It is also recommended to increase exercise in the daily routine both to tire us badly at the end of the day, and to reduce the little sleep side effects of anxiety and depression on the body.
