History

Since 1980, World Tourism Day has been observed on September 27th all around the world. The United Nations World Tourism Organization’s Statutes, which are considered a milestone in global tourism, were enacted on this day in 1970.

This cleared the path for the UNWTO to be established five years later. On September 27, 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) commemorated the first World Tourism Day as an international event.

Given that 90 percent of global heritage sites closed as a result of the pandemic last year, and young people in rural communities were unemployed, it is critical to creating knowledge about the tourism sector during these epidemic times.
