The name of the next game in one of Nintendo’s most popular series has been made public. The long-awaited follow-up to Breath of the Wild will be called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It will use parts of Breath of the Wild and expand on them to make an open-world game that spans both the sky and the ground. The title was made public on September 13, and the release date has also been made public.

When will be Tears of the Kingdom: The Legend of Zelda release date?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will come out on May 12, 2023, according to Nintendo. This date comes after multiple delays. This sequel was supposed to come out as early as 2021 and was one of the most anticipated games of 2022. But it looks like the wait will be worth it because the game looks like it won’t let fans down.

Even though Nintendo had already shown some previews of this new sequel, which had been called Breath of the Wild 2 until now, a first trailer showed only a few seconds of the game’s visuals. This confirmed the game’s connection to the first one and reminded us that the map will get a new dimension.

What will Tears of the Kingdom, the next Zelda game, be about?

All the fans and people who like the game say that this is one of the few times that a Zelda game will be a direct sequel to the last one. The story will pick up where the last game left off, just like Majora’s Mask did after Ocarina of Time.

Spoilers: At the end of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda and Link defeat Ganon and decide to rebuild Hyrule to make a peaceful world.

The trailer for the sequel shows animation work that is similar to the first one. It also shows the two main characters in action, which suggests that what we’ll see will be events that happen after the game but have a deeper story. But nothing has been confirmed, so we can’t say for sure that this is what will happen, even though the signs point in that direction.

Why is Nintendo planning a Breath of the Wild sequel?

Nintendo is planning a straight sequel to Breath of the Wild because it has “too many ideas” for DLC for the game, according to Aonuma. As Aonuma stated at E3 2019,

“We recognized this is a terrific method to introduce more components to the same world when we launched the DLC for Breath of the Wild. When it boils down to it, DLC is essentially data—you’re adding data to an already existing title. So, when we wanted to make significant modifications, DLC wasn’t enough, so we decided a sequel may be a good fit. We were thinking of only DLC ideas at first, but then we had too many and decided, “This is too many ideas, let’s just develop one new game and start from scratch.”

Is Ganondorf playable?

A wild fan theory proposes Ganondorf as a playable character. Barrett Courtney of Kinda Funny believes that the more rugged-looking Link in the new E3 video could be Ganondorf, despite appearances.

Courtney hypothesized that portraying the fall of Ganondorf would be a part of the game, kicking off the cycle of a hero versus a corrupted Ganon that occurs in every game. He believes that the hero from 10,000 years ago who has been teased is Ganondorf, and that the character with the corrupted arm in the teaser is indeed Ganondorf.

“This game will involve learning about Ganondorf the man’s fall and then freeing him from the darkness that has ruled over him for generations.
