More than 15,000 Russian Soldiers Killed in Ukraine: NATO

More than 7,000 to 15,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in a month of fighting in Ukraine, according to the western military alliance NATO. On Wednesday, a senior coalition official told the US news agency AP about the loss of lives of Russian soldiers.

He said between 30,000 and 40,000 Russian military soldiers had been killed or wounded in fighting in Ukraine.

Russia, however, released figures on March 2, saying 498 members of the Russian military who went to Ukraine had been killed. Since then, Moscow has not released any further statistics on the casualties of Russian troops in the Ukraine war.

According to the AP, Russia has lost 15,000 troops in just a month of fighting in Ukraine, but the same number of Russian soldiers have lost their lives in the War in Afghanistan in nearly 10 years. NATO’s estimate of Russian military casualties was based on information from Ukrainian authorities, the coalition official said.

Kyiv has released little information on how many Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the same war. Even the West did not report any idea about the casualties of Ukrainian soldiers.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once said about two weeks ago that about 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed while mounting a counter-offensive against Russian troops.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the start of military operations in the southern neighboring country. A month into Russia’s campaign aimed at protecting Ukraine from neo-Nazis and hard-nationalists, there is no sign of resolving the crisis.

Russian troops are firing heavy shelling and firing missiles at various cities in Ukraine. Thousands of civilians have been killed and millions have been blocked.

As Russian troops continued shelling from all sides, there was a serious humanitarian crisis in the southern city of Mariupol. Human bodies were found lying on the streets of Mariupol. Thousands of people are dying in the city in the face of severe shortages of food, water, and medicines. More than 10 million people have been rendered homeless in Ukraine so far due to continued Russian attacks.
