The new Google Wallet app is now available to everyone. It started showing up on people’s phones Monday in 39 countries. Some people have had trouble finding it or getting the update through Google Play search, but they can try this link or find it through a tweet from Google.
The official launch of Google app is the most recent step in Google’s long history of different payment apps. In 2018, the company combined Google Wallet and Android Pay to make Google Pay, which was a single app with tap-to-pay, tickets, and loyalty programs. It worked on both Android and Google Chrome. In 2020, Google Pay got a big update that added new services like peer-to-peer payments, deals, and more.

Now, Google announced the return of Wallet at its Google I/O event in May. They split things up again to give payment cards, plane tickets, government IDs, proof of vaccination, and even car keys their own place.
Users will be able to pay with the app at stores that accept Google Pay. The Google Play Store is where you can get Google Wallet. Users must be running Android 5.2 or later and have a valid US phone number and a Google account. You should then be able to start adding cards to your Google Wallet. If you already have a card linked to the Google Play Store or YouTube, your card should be loaded.
How to Install Google Wallet
It is very easy to set up the app. It won’t be an update for you if you didn’t already have GPay on your device. This means you’ll have to set it up by hand. This is how:
- Go to the Google Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet.
2. Type Google Wallet into the search bar and click the search icon.
3. Scroll down until you see the new app and tap it.
Note: At the moment, the app listing seems to be buried under a few suggestions. You might need to scroll down a bit to find it.
4. Tap Install.
Note: You can also have it downloaded to your Wear OS watch if you check that box.
