The Amazon series, directed by the Spaniard Juan Antonio Bayona, was filmed in New Zealand (where the films were also shot), and the first photographs reveal that it boasts enormous sequences, jaw-dropping sets, and all the details you need to return to Middle Earth.

The Lord of the Rings series endeavors to recreate the settings, battles, creatures, and characters from Tolkien’s iconic books, and with Peter Jackson’s films as a precedent, they have every intention of creating something more visually impressive than comparable fantasy series — Game of Thrones, The Witcher, etc.

Already huge expectations exist for the Lord of the Rings trilogy especially with the Game of Thrones prequel on the horizon. Amazon announced more than a year ago that it had acquired the rights to The Lord of the Rings novels and intended to adapt them into a new epic television series for movie fans. Amazon had to pay more than $200 million for the rights, and after calculating the costs of production, casting, and visual effects, the series will have a budget of over $1 billion.

According to a rumor, the first season of the series will cost approximately 465 million dollars, which is four times what HBO spent to produce the seasons of Game of Thrones each one cost 100 million. Stuart Nash, the country’s minister of economic development and tourism, told Morning Report today that Amazon will spend approximately $650 million on season 1 alone. This will be the most popular television program ever produced.

The enormous production will return us to the universe created by Tolkien in the Lord of the Rings books, and fans already have enough information to anticipate what will certainly be one of the best Amazon series.

The trailers

The long-awaited trailer for the series has finally been released, and it is loaded with amazing creatures, dramatic battles, breathtaking scenery, and people from Tolkien’s history that reveal more about the Ring of Sauron’s past.

At some time in the series, the Hobbits’ and dwarves’ stories will intertwine with that of the elves, as depicted in the most current series teaser. We also witness a mystery meteorite falling from the sky, which may be a crucial object that unites everyone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The series’ title was finally announced. The title of the series, The Rings of Power, confirms that we are traveling back in time to the moment when all the existing rings of power were produced and given to their respective owners, before Sauron built his to rule the rest.

This indicates that we will observe the first monarchs from whom Aragon originated who began to be corrupted by power.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings together all the important events of the Second Age of Middle-earth: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic story of Nmenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, according to showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay. “Until now, viewers have only seen the narrative of the One Ring on film; however, before there was One, there were many, and we’re eager to reveal the epic history of all of them.”

When will The Lord of the Rings be released?

Amazon has now confirmed that the premiere date of the series will be September 2, 2022. The trip will begin on September 2, 2022, when our original series The Lord of the Rings premieres on Prime Video, according to Jennifer Salke, CEO of Amazon Studios. “I cannot adequately explain how pleased we are to take our global audience on an incredible new adventure through Middle-earth! Our outstanding producers, cast, creatives, and production teams labored diligently in New Zealand to bring to life this breathtaking, unseen vision.”

Where can you watch the Lord of the Rings series?

The Lord of the Rings series is an original Amazon Prime Video production, therefore it is only available on the platform.

The first images

The first image in the series doesn’t reveal much, but it does transport us back to Middle-earth, where we see what appears to be an elf observing the legendary city from afar.

What is the plot of The Lord of the Rings?

Amazon has recently released the official summary, which provides numerous hints about the plot and characters.

“The new series from Amazon Studios will bring the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth to the big screen for the first time. Set thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ this epic drama will transport viewers to a time when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were put to the test, and the greatest villain from Tolkien’s penthreatened to cover the entire world in darkness. Beginning in a period of relative peace, the story follows a cast of familiar and new characters as they confront the dreaded return of evil to Middle-earth. From the deepest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic woodlands of the elven capital of Lindon to the breathtaking island kingdom of Nmenor to the outermost reaches of the map, these countries and characters will leave legacies that will remain long after they have departed.”

They may be referring to Sauron, who features in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings films, because the synopsis indicates they will take us back to the time when the rings of power were forged.

Will we see some of the characters from the movies?

The series is not set in the same period as the films, but three iconic characters are rumored to appear in the plot, according to rumors.

According to TheOneRing.Net, Galadriel, Sauron, and Elrond will appear in the series. The casting of Morfydd Clark as a younger Galadriel confirms that the majority of the characters from the films who aren’t eternal elves will not appear in this adaptation.

The series is set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, which was briefly examined in the films, and includes major events such as the rise and fall of Nmenor, the construction of the Rings of Power, and the formation of the Last Alliance, allowing us to witness how Sauron became the most powerful evil.
