Marvel’s Moon Knight: Welcome to Oscar Isaac’s Nightmare World
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for its upcoming series Moon Knight, and we can’t stop talking about it. I’m not kidding. By revealing Marvel’s new enigmatic superhero, the trailer, which was released today, broke the Internet. Yes, of course. Yes, you read that correctly. A new superhero has emerged.
“Hello and welcome to Staying Awake,” says the trailer, drawing us in. We witness Oscar Isaac, who plays the protagonist, trapped in a perplexing double-reality. Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) “can’t distinguish the difference between waking life and dreams,” according to the teaser. And we witness him leading a perplexing double life as Steven and mercenary Marc Spector. We experience the tension of the much-anticipated film as we delve in and out of the protagonist’s disturbed state of mind. In this clip, we can also detect a hint of a dark psychological thriller.
It was captioned by Marvel Studios as follows: “Welcome to the madness. Watch the new teaser for Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight, which will premiere on Disney+ on March 30.”
“Struggling with numerous personas and amoral impulses, Marc Spector fights on against all odds as the veiled avenger Moon Knight,” the developers wrote on Twitter.
Marc/character Steven’s is depicted in such shades in the teaser. We observe Steven/Marc become perplexed about his identification as he is called by several names by various persons, both in person and on the phone. As the protagonist ties himself to the footboard of his bed, sees monsters in people, and struggles to find his way through the world, we notice indicators of mental illness.
Ethan Hawke teased us with a look of his character, whose name has yet to be revealed. He is found advising Marc/Steven, “Embrace the turmoil,” while playing a villain. Following that, we watch the distraught protagonist transform into a vicious Moon Knight, armored in ominous garb.
According to a synopsis on the IMDB page for this new series, “A dissociative identity disorder-affected former US marine is gifted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. However, he quickly discovers that his newfound abilities may be both a blessing and a curse in his turbulent life.”
Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead collaborated on the film Moon Knight. One of the six episodes was co-directed by George Clooney.
