Google Search Now Offers a Guitar Tuner
If you’re in a hurry and have misplaced your guitar tuner, and you have a gig coming up soon (yeah, that’s a lot of ifs), you can now ask Google for help tuning your guitar.
Android Police first noticed the new feature, dubbed “Google Tuner,” a few days ago. To use it, simply google “Google Tuner,” and you’ll receive a fully functional tuner that will listen to the sounds coming out of your guitar and tell you whether it’s in tune using your computer or phone mic (you must first authorise it).
Similar feature existed before, according to Android Police, and you could use it by telling Google Assistant to “tune my instrument,” but now it’s available as a search phrase and works on any device.
Surprisingly, it only works if you type “Google Tuner” directly into the search field. You won’t get the same result if you search for “guitar tuner” or “instrument tuner,” which makes no sense.
I tested the feature on both a Mac and an iPhone, and it works well, though it won’t replace my regular guitar tuner (you may need to play a little louder if using an iPhone). Your phone, on the other hand, is constantly with you, whereas your guitar tuner isn’t.
