Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO who caused a stir with his Twitter ambitions, has now attacked Netflix after its stock fell 25% on Wednesday. With various ideas circulating about Netflix’s likely setback, the term ‘Woke’ began to trend on Twitter, with most theories blaming Netflix’s ‘woke’ programming for the downturn. Elon Musk, for example, is a believer in the notion, tweeting, “The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable”.
Another believer is Indian filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, whose recent film The Kashmir Files received international acclaim and sparked widespread controversy in India. Vivek Agnihotri attacked Netflix’s ‘woke’ material, tagging Elon Musk. “I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost all of their subscribers soon, given how their WOKE execs demand WOKE content. “I hope @elonmusk makes an offer,” Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, adding, “They had lost me long time back.”

According to Netflix’s quarterly earnings report released Tuesday, its member count declined by 200,000 over the January-March period. It’s the first time Netflix’s member base has declined since the streaming service became widely available outside of China six years ago. This year’s dip was attributed in part to Netflix’s decision to withdraw from Russia in protest of the war in Ukraine, which resulted in a 700,000-subscriber loss.

Netflix, on the other hand, saw an increase in India after announcing its mobile-only plan for 19 rupees per month and the entry-level package at 199 rupees per month in December.
Elon Musk replied ‘true’ to a social media user who claimed that not only Netflix, but all movies, video games, and material in general is ‘infected with woke rubbish.’ “Can they possibly make sci-fi/fantasy about sci-fi/fantasy at least *mostly*?” Elon Musk penned the article.
