Inclusive hiring is important because a diverse and inclusive organization will mirror its customer base; this means that an inclusive organization has higher chances of getting more customers and clients because they tend to consider what goes on within an organization before engaging with them. Basically, the kind of people you employ will determine the kind of patronage you get. However, if you want to create a more inclusive environment in your organization, below are five tips.

  1. Make Your Job Description Inclusive: It is essential to understand that having an inclusive organization will help create a good company reputation in the minds of your employees and customers, so you have to make your job description inclusive. Many organizations have adopted the use of the internet or social media to get potential employees; however, you have to write a job description that tells the kind of employee you are looking for. Make sure you indicate In your description that your organization is none diverse and is willing to employ the most qualified candidates regardless of their differences.
  2. Develop an EEOC Statement: Another importance of creating an inclusive work environment is that your organization will hire better candidates than other organizations hiring people of the same mindset. First, however, you have to develop an Equal Employee Opportunity Commission statement (EEOC). A company makes an EEOC statement to indicate that they comply with equality laws.   3. Set Up A Diverse Interview Panel: Setting up a diverse interview panel will let your prospective employees know that they are well represented in your organization. For example, when a Muslim brother goes for an interview in an organization and on arrival, he finds another Muslim brother on the interview panel, he automatically has a sense of belonging because he can see that the organization is inclusive. A diverse interview panel would help reduce bias since all interviewers would have a different view of the candidate. Your interview team should ask more job-related questions and less personal questions. Your hiring team should give questions concerning the employees’ qualifications and skills more attention.
  4. Expand your Hiring Process: When hiring candidates, you have to understand that different people search for employees in December on different platforms. While some search on print ads, others search via social media. You want to make sure you cover all these platforms. However, if you don’t want to stress yourself posting ads, you can engage the services of an employer of record (EOR). An EOR is a third-party organization that deals with everything that relates to employment.   5. Provide Bias Awareness Training For your Team: You have to pay attention to the fact that your organization has different orientations, backgrounds, and beliefs. However, providing bias awareness training for your employees is necessary. Bias is unconscious, and this makes it difficult to manage. Still, employee relationships will be facilitated when all team members, including the HR, are well trained on bias awareness. Your organization should create a rule that ensures that all employees respect each other regardless of their differences. It would be best if you gave strict punishment to those who violate the rule.
