AZ-104 is Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification Examination. It is a role-based examination conducted by Microsoft that requires some prior experience.

This certification examination is a replacement for the previous certification exam, named AZ-103.

  • A minimum of six months of working knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration is necessary. The candidate should have practical experience in implementing, monitoring, and managing a company’s Azure environment.
  • A basic understanding of core functionalities of Azure services, workload, governance, etc., is crucial.
  • Depending on the candidate, working experience of PowerShell, Azure portal, Azure Resource Manager, CLI, etc., may also be a requirement.

  3. Configuration of files and blob storage: coverage of 20% – 25%
    1. Management and deployment of Azure compute resources
    2. Automated deployment of VMs using Azure Resource Manager
    3. Configuring VMs
    4. Creation and configuration of containers
    5. Creation and configuration of Azure App Services
  4. Configuring and managing virtual network: coverage of 25% – 30%
    1. Implementation and management
    2. Access security
    3. Load balancing
    4. Troubleshooting and managing
  5. Monitoring and backing up of Azure resources: coverage of 10% – 15%
    1. Backup and recovery

  • This topic is divided into six modules, and the duration of the training is 3hrs 40mins.
  • Covers the basic ideas to understand the working of Microsoft Azure
  1. Manage identities and governance in Azure:
  • This is divided into eight modules, and the duration of the training is 4hrs 7 mins.
  • This topic covers the concepts of governance, RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), and active directories.
  1. Implement and manage storage in Azure:
  • This is divided into nine modules, and the duration is 4hrs 44mins.
  • This topic includes concepts of managing storage in Azure, files, and Blob storage.
  1. Manage and deploy Azure compute resources:
  • This is divided into 11 modules, and the training is of 6hrs 19mins.
  • This topic focuses on deploying and configuring virtual machines, web applications, and containers.
  1. Manage and configure virtual networks for Azure administrators:
  • This is divided into 15 modules, and the duration of this session is 8hrs.
  • This topic covers configuring and managing Azure networks capabilities like protection and delivery of applications, connectivity, network monitoring.
  1. Backup and monitor Azure resources:
  • This has nine modules, and the duration of this session is 4hrs 50 mins.
  • This topic covers the concept of backup and recovery in Azure.
