Abhishek Bachchan is a man who believes in speaking his mind. And his most recent Instagram post proves it. He’s uploaded a clip from Dasvi’s first showing. Venue? Central Jail in Agra. That’s right, you read that correctly. The film was shot in this jail, just so you know. So, once the shooting was completed, Abhishek vowed that whenever the film was completed, he would have the first screening inside the jail. He also stood by his words.
The video begins with a flashback of Abhishek speaking to the jail guards and convicts. “Jaise yeh film taiyaar ho jaye, main chahunga ki jab pehli baar yeh baray parde par dikhe toh hum Agra main akaar. Aap sab k beech main baith kar yeh picture dekhay. [I wish to watch the film, once ready, for the first time with all of you here].
The film has brilliantly captured up the entire occasion, from the set-up for the screening to people cheering the acts on-screen. Inside the jail, Nimrat Kaur and Yami Gautam can also be seen walking beside Abhishek Bachchan. This is the first time this has happened.

Abhishek Bachchan also sent a lengthy message on Instagram. “A promise is a promise,” says the narrator. I was able to keep a promise I made a year ago last night. The guards and inmates of Agra Central Jail were the first to see our film Dasvi. This is where we shot the movie. I’ll remember and treasure their reactions for the rest of my life.”
Dasvi, starred by Abhishek Bachchan, will be released on April 7. The movie is available to watch on Netflix and Jio Cinema. Abhishek will play Ganga Ram Chaudhary, the Chief Minister of the state. The plot centers on Abhishek’s character, who gets sentenced to prison. His performance in the upbeat song Macha Macha Re drew a lot of attention as well. Last week, the film’s first music was released.
The trailer was released on March 24 by the producers. After seeing the trailer and seeing his son Abhishek Bachchan’s powerful performance, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan proudly declared Abhishek to be his “uttaradhikaari” on his blog.
Yami Gautam will play the role of a police officer in Dasvi. Nimrat Kaur will be seen as Abhishek’s wife. Tushar Jalota is the director of the film.
