Tributes From Bollywood Stars for Lata Mangeshkar, The Nightingale

Following the demise of famous vocalist Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday, the Hindi film industry expressed their grief on social media. Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital.

She was 92 years old at the time. On January 8, Ms Mangeshkar was admitted to the intensive care unit after testing positivefor COVID-19. Lata Mangeshkar was diagnosed with pneumonia as well as COVID-19.

Her symptoms were minimal, but she was in ICU due to her age, according to her relatives. Ms Mangeshkar exhibited evidence of progress during the next two weeks.

However, hospital officials said on Saturday that Lata Mangeshkar had been placed back on the ventilator after her health deteriorated. On Twitter, members of the film industry paid respect to the late artist.

“Heartbroken, but blessed to have known and loved this incredible soul… Lataji holds a place in our hearts that will never be taken by anyone else. That’s how profoundly she has impacted our lives with her music. May she rest in peace and light up the heavens with her brightness,” tweeted Anil Kapoor.

Akshay Kumar remembered the legend with her iconic song. He wrote: Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hain, Gar Yaad Rahe…and how can one forget such a voice! Deeply saddened by the passing away of Lata Mangeshkar ji, my sincere condolences and prayers. Om Shanti.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar wrote for Ms Mangeshkar who sang the title song in his film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He tweeted: “Today heaven truly gained the voice of an angel. I grew up listening to Lata ji’s song and as I mourn her loss today – I know with absolute confidence that unki “awaaz hi pehchan” hai and she has left an indelible mark on our Indian culture for many generations to come.”

Boney Kapoor wrote: “Deeply saddened by the news of Lata Mangeshkar Ji’s passing away. She leaves behind a huge legacy of songs which will be treasured for generations to come. May her soul rest in peace. Condolences to the family.”

“Love, respect and prayers,” tweeted music composer AR Rahman.

“You will be missed our nightingale. But your voice shall live with us forever. #RIPLataji,” Salman Khan wrote while sharing a throwback with her.
