Dwayne Johnson has stated that he aspires to play the role of James Bond in the future.
Daniel Craig has played the character of the super spy for the past 15 years, with the most recent installment, No Time to Die, marking his final appearance in the franchise.
“I would like to follow in his (Craig’s) footsteps and be the next Bond,” Johnson remarked in an interview with Esquire.
Johnson also mentioned that his grandfather, Peter Maiva, played a villain in the fifth James Bond film, You Only Live Twice: “My grandfather was a Bond villain.” “Wow, that’s very fantastic,” he said.
However, the actor of the Jungle Cruise stated that he did not want to play a Bond villain, saying, “I don’t want to be a villain.” It’s got to be Bond.”
With Craig’s departure from the series, there has been a lot of conjecture about who will take his place. Henry Cavill, Tom Hopper, and Tom Hardy have all been mentioned as future 007s, joining Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Pierce Brosnan, and Timothy Dalton as former Bonds.
Johnson is now starring alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in Netflix’s Red Notice. On social media, Reynolds claimed that Red Notice was the most watched movie on Netflix on its first day of release.
