Although the year 2021 has come to an end, if you’re a gamer, don’t start counting down the achievements you’ve earned this year just yet. Not until you’ve seen all of the games that will be released in 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and smartphones. There are a number of games to look forward to, with some promising excellent open-world action (Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, and Forspoken), while others (Dead Space, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time) will give us a fresh look at iconic classics.
Of course, many of us are still playing Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which were among our favorite games last year. However, the arrival of the new year heralds the arrival of even more thrilling sports. Rainbow Six Extraction, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Elden Ring, Stray, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Hogwarts Legacy, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Gran Turismo 7, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, Forspoken, Redfall, Saints Row, Starfield, and God of War Ragnarök are among the games coming out this year.
It’s worth mentioning that many of the games on this list don’t have firm release dates yet, but are expected later this year. Due to the pandemic, games like God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West have already been delayed, and some of the other titles on this list may be delayed as well, due to an increase in cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in various nations. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Massive Entertainment is developing the forthcoming open-world action-adventure game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which could be one of the most interesting titles unveiled in 2021. The game is based on James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar film franchise and boasts stunning visuals. It will be available later this year on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series S/X, Amazon Luna, and Google Stadia.
Babylon’s Fall

Fans of hack-and-slash games can look forward to the release of PlatinumGames’ Babylon’s Fall, a cooperative action role-playing game (RPG). Gamers will take on the role of a Sentinel, mounting the Ziggurat and leveling up along the route, either alone or with three pals. Babylon’s Fall will be released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as on PC.
Baldur’s Gate III
The upcoming Baldur’s Gate III is based on the classic Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game and contains turn-based combat. In 2020, Larian Studios published this game in early access for PC, macOS, and Google Stadia, but the complete version is coming this year to these platforms. CrossfireX is the third installment in the Crossfire series for Microsoft’s Xbox gaming system by Remedy Entertainment and Smilegate. The game will have two teams that can play in Classic mode, which is reminiscent of the popular Counter-Strike game series and contains a plant-the-bomb/defuse-the-bomb playing style. A Modern mode and a new Spectre mode are also included in the game. Only the Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X will be able to play CrossfireX.
Dead Space (Remake)
Dead Space will return after nine years with the same scenario as the original game of the same name, which was launched in 2008. Although it is a remake of the original game rather than a sequel to 2013’s Dead Space 3, gamers can expect the same horror-survival gameplay and to once again step into the shoes of engineer Isaac Clarke, who must escape a spaceship overrun with Necromorphs, or the undead. Motive Studios is working on the game, which will have a single-player mode. On PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, it will be accessible.
The Witch Queen
The latest Destiny 2 expansion will finally be released in February, after being delayed this year due to the coronavirus outbreak. New material will be added to the role-playing action game, including new maps, weapons, objectives, dungeons, and more. Diablo Immortal is a four-year-old arcade-style action RPG for cellphones with a multiplayer option. It will have a recognizable graphic style and will be available for free. The game will be released on Android and iOS cellphones, with no plans to release it on PC or consoles, according to Blizzard and NetEase.

Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring is a third-person action RPG developed by FromSoftware that takes place in the Lands Between, where players must fight and explore castles, fortresses, and crypts in order to find the Great Runes (and therefore restore the Elden Ring) in order to become the Elden Lord. Assuming the character of Akito, players will have to use his abilities to combat the Visitors as the city’s population begin to vanish. Later this year, Ghostwire: Tokyo will be released for PC and PlayStation 5.
God of War (PC)

Sony stated in October that its 2018 God of War game, which was a PlayStation 4 exclusive at the time, would be released on PC in 2022. With Sony’s Santa Monica Studio preparing to release the popular game (which has sold over 19.5 million copies as of August 2021), PC gamers will be able to join in the fun, with 4K resolution and DLSS on Nvidia RTX. They must take on the role of Kratos and journey through realms with his son Atreus, defeating epic monsters and Norse Gods.
God of War Ragnarök

Gotham Knights
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s planned action role-playing game is set to be launched in 2022. Gotham Knights is set in an open-world Gotham City and stars Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, four members of the Bat Family. The developer debuted a trailer for the new game at DC FanDome earlier this year. Gotham Knights will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
Grid Legends
Release date: February 25, 2022
Grid Legends is the sixth installment in the Grid racing franchise from Codemasters. The game is currently available for pre-order on the official website for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. In July, the game was announced at the EA Play Live 2021 event. Grid Legends gives users the option of creating their own races and rules, with over 100 tracks and cars to pick from.
Gran Turismo 7
Release date: March 2022
Gran Turismo, a simulation racing game series dedicated to PlayStation systems, is getting a new installment soon. Gran Turismo 7 is a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 game developed by Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Aside from the 90 courses, Gran Tursimo 7 will have a whopping 420 automobiles.
GTA 5 + GTA Online
Release date: March 2022
Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, both from Rockstar Games, are being remastered on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, respectively. The action-adventure game will be released in March of 2022.
Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s and follows the life of a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The game’s release date is unknown, however it is expected to be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
Homeworld 3
The tentative release date for Homeworld 3 is set for the fourth quarter of 2022. The third installment in the Homeworld series, which began in 1999, is a real-time strategy game. When it is released, it will only be available on PC.
Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is planned to appear on PS4 and PS5 in 2022, and is likely to be one of, if not the most, anticipated titles of the year. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Apart from the news that it will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X, not much information has been given about the impending game. The stealth-based action-adventure game based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel is supposed to follow Gollum before The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit events.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The new Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a sequel to 2017’s Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and is a crossover between the Mario and Raving Rabbids brands. The forthcoming game by Ubisoft will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2022.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Firaxis Games’ Marvel’s Midnight Suns was announced at Gamescom 2021 and is set to release in the second half of 2022. It will be available on the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. The company has released a trailer showcasing some of the upcoming tactical RPG’s gameplay.
MultiVersus
Many characters from Warner Bros.’ catalog, from Batman to Bugs Bunny, appear in the free-to-play crossover fighting game. MultiVersus will be available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X without a definite release date. Its gameplay is claimed to be comparable to that of Super Smash Bros.
Need for Speed
Electronic Arts’ Need for Speed is one of the most popular racing game franchises. The developers have not stated which platforms it will be accessible on or when it will be released. Criterion, the studio behind Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010), Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012), and Need for Speed Rivals (2013), could be working on the new NFS (2013).
OlliOlliWorld

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake
The iconic Prince of Persia: Sands of Time will be remade, including new opponent character models and cinematic sequences, as well as improved voices, noises, parkour animations, and soundtrack.
