Based on Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name, Les Miserables is an epic period musical and arguably one of the best films of its genre. 14. Mank (2020)

Netflix’s Mank, a love letter to Hollywood set in the 1930s and directed by David Fincher, lost the 2021 Best Picture Oscar to Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland.
