6 Historical Sites should be on Your Travel Bucket List

travel

No one has made a time machine that works yet, but there are a few historical sites around the world that give you a glimpse into the past, when the world was very different and the idea of a phone, especially a smart phone, seemed crazy. You can always go to a museum to learn a little bit about the past, but seeing pieces of art carefully hung in the hallways of a building is not the same as being able to experience history in those places where everything happened.

At the moment, the only way to go back in time is to walk through historical sites that have been saved and kept. These sites show us how our ancestors lived, but even though they have been there for a long time, they might not be there forever. exist. Something could happen to them, and your chance could be gone although you can also explore them through some series with a lot of history.

Nothing lasts forever in this world. The fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in 2019 showed us that even the most impressive buildings, those that have been around for a long time and have stood the test of time to become icons, can be destroyed in an instant. If we put off the trip to meet them, we might never get to see them.

Every year, people from all over the world get on planes and go to cities where the past is still alive. Their goal is to see ruins, temples, palaces, and other places full of history, and you should try to do the same whenever you want. you can because with a cultural vacation you kill two birds with one stone, or three, expand your mind, escape from routine and have a new adventure.

Budapest

You put this on the list because you like Black Widow and the Avengers, right? It’s not terrible, but don’t just look for movie sites. Budapest is an old city with a famous chain bridge, palaces like the Buda Castle (which has a great art collection), museums, and the famous Széchenyi “spa” with hot springs.

Palenque, Bonampak and the Ruins of Yaxchilán, Chiapas

Chiapas has a lot to see. You can visit the Agua Azul waterfalls, the Sumidero Canyon, or San Cristobal de las Casas, but your trip won’t be complete until you see the ruins. The most famous are Palenque and Bonampak, which are in a thick jungle. Yaxchilán, which is near the famous Usumacinta River, is also an amazing place. The INAH says that it is a place worth visiting because of its architecture and because ancient texts were found there that talk about battles, important events, and some of the city’s history.

Taj Mahal, Amber Fort, India

India is a magical place with lots of color, smells of different species, and signs of life from long ago. The most famous place is the Taj Mahal, which was built as a tomb by a man who wanted to show how much he loved his wife. This spot is also unique because it changes colors throughout the day. The Amber Fort is also a must-see. It is a palace from the 16th century, and what makes it special are the details, colors, and mirrors that are everywhere.

London, Bath, Stonehenge, England

The story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table is one of the many stories and legends about England. You can find palaces, old churches, the baths of Bath, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the famous Stoehenge, which is a mysterious structure made of several stones and is the subject of many legends and theories, including one that says it was built by aliens.

Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Peru

Peru was the center of Inca culture, and you can still see the ruins of their most important cities. Machu Picchu is a must-see, and it is said that the Incas lived there because it was a place with a lot of energy and where the mountains kept their enemies away. But that’s not all you can see in Cuzco. The city is full of history, and you can also walk the famous Inca Trail, visit Sacsayhuamán, or see the mud city of Chan Chan.

Acropolis, Athens, Greece

This is one of the most famous historical sites in the world. You can even see it in The Little Drummer Girl series, with Florence Pugh and Alexander Skarsgard, because it has been well taken care of and shows the magic of ancient Greek architecture.
