Discover the unmistakable icon of Singapore Merlion at Merlion Park. The unique icon with the crest of a lion and the body of a fish has been conceptualized in keeping with the local legend.
As per the legend, the fish stems from the fact that Singapore has been a fishing village a few centuries ago. The Lion Crest is due to a Sri Vijayan Prince from Palembang who landed in Singapore amidst a tempest and spotted a creature like a lion, thus the icon carries the Lion Head and fishtail, and it was named Merlion. The 8.6 m Merlion at this park in One Fullerton is a sight synonymous with Singapore at present.
The park also has a Cub Merlion smaller in size at 3 m while 06 other Merlions are at different locations in Singapore.
