Lionel Messi has cost Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) €10 million for every Ligue 1 goal since his arrival at the club, according to French media.
After failing to agree on terms of a new deal with Barcelona, the 34-year-old joined the Parisians on a free transfer last summer.
Messi arrived at the Qatari-owned club with lofty expectations, having won seven Ballon d’Or during his tenure at Barcelona. However, he has thus far failed to impress, scoring just three goals in 21 Premier League appearances.
According to Marca, the French daily L’Equipe has revealed how much the great forward cost PSG for each of his three goals.
According to the report, the Argentine will earn €30 million net in his first season at the club, implying that each of his goals will cost the Ligue 1 leaders €10 million.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side, on the other hand, has 13 league assists this season, putting them on course for a record-tying eleventh league title.
Messi was brought in to help PSG win the Champions League for the first time, but his team fell short after another heartbreaking defeat in the Round of 16 against Real Madrid. Messi and Neymar were booed by their own fans in the following game at the Parc des Princes.
