How to Get Smarter with Edutainment?

video game

What is edutainment? Edutainment is a term that refers to practices, activities, or materials that serve both purposes of education and entertainment. They include watching television shows, news, and playing video games. Here is how you can get smarter with edutainment.

Play IQ Tests and Brain Games

These types of games are classic edutainment processes. You learn new things, you activate your brain and you get smarter a little by little. All this while you really need to give your full attention to every question, identify the problems, and learn how to approach them in order to solve them. For example, IQ tests are unique tests that try to assess your numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, analogical intelligence, logic skills, and other cognitive skills. Practice more IQ tests and brain games will allow you to improve the way you think and approach problems.

Playing instruments

Some of the instruments that people enjoy learning how to play are pianos and guitars. When playing instruments, your mind learns how to be creative, thus boosting your intelligence. Some of the skills you learn when playing musical instruments include better physical coordination, auditory perception, pattern recognition, and memory. If you are passionate about music, playing instruments might be your appropriate channel for getting smarter. You can begin by challenging yourself by mastering new genres and songs.

If you have never played a musical instrument, don’t worry. It is never too late to start doing something new. You can register with your nearest trainer and get started, or you can watch DIY videos that are available only in plenty. However, learning how to play instruments from online videos might take longer, so it would be best if you book a regular class session with a qualified trainer for faster learning.

Watching news

Some people enjoy reading and watching the news. They love the feeling of being aware of everything that is happening across the globe. Watching the news on T.V. or reading them in newspapers is a habit that nurtures healthy brain waves. Regularly, the brain needs to process new information. Studies suggest that new information helps the brain accommodate new trending topics, thus leaving your brain digesting and interpreting the new information. Therefore, if you want to get smarter, it would be best to spare some time, maybe 30 minutes per day, to watch the news or read newspapers and magazines and stay in an active state of mind throughout the day.

Reading Books

Reading is an equal edutainment as watching T.V. programs and news. Reading facilitates brain activity through practical assistance such as introducing your mind to new vocabularies, perfecting the use of correct grammar, and elegantly writing well-structured and attractive sentences. By reading, you are giving your brain the chance to travel to new places virtually. In that case, reading becomes both enjoyable and educational at the same time. From the array of written work available, you can choose non-fiction, fiction, historical, or poetry literature depending on your preferences.

Drawing

Drawing is an excellent method of cultivating brain activity. As an artist, besides having fun, drawing helps you get smarter by cultivating the coordination between your eyes and hands. This process involves neurotransmitters receiving synapses that boost your memory skills.

Painting

There are many similarities between painting and drawing. The most obvious is that both cases positively affect similar sections of the brain. However, painting is unique since it does more than drawing. When painting, you often introduce your brain to new and strange patterns, textures, and colors that stimulate the brain.
