Did You Know There are 4 Types of PCOS?

In recent years, polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS, has become a widespread condition among Indian women. An imbalance in reproductive hormones is thought to be the cause of PCOS. It can result in the creation of tiny cysts in one or both ovaries, as well as pregnancy difficulties. According to dietician Pooja Makhija, this condition affects one out of every five Indian women. But, before you start looking for therapies, you should figure out which type of PCOS you have. Pooja explains the four types of PCOS in an Instagram video. She also discusses how to deal with them.

PCOS has four different types.

1. PCOS is characterized by insulin resistance

It happens in 70% of the cases, according to the dietician. Insulinoma develops when cells become insensitive to the effects of insulin, resulting in this kind of PCOS. Symptoms include abdominal weight gain, sweets cravings, and weariness.

Exercise and movement are beneficial in the treatment of this condition. Avoid foods that are heavy in sugar and instead opt for a well-balanced diet. Reduce stress and get enough sleep to keep your insulin levels in check. Magnesium, chromium, NAC, and inositol supplements can aid.

2. PCOS with Adrenal Insufficiency

This occurs during a period of extreme stress. High cortisol and DHEA levels are clear indicators.

Yoga, meditation, and a good night’s sleep can all help to lower stress levels. High-intensity activity should be avoided. The adrenal glands and nervous system can benefit from magnesium, vitamin B5, and vitamin C.

3. PCOS with inflammation

Chronic inflammation causes this kind of PCOS. PCOS is caused by elevated testosterone levels caused by a poor diet and an unhealthy lifestyle. Some of the symptoms include high C reactive protein (greater than 5), headaches, unexplained lethargy, and skin concerns such as dermatitis.

Balance intestinal flora, improve digestive enzymes and repair leaky gut tissue to keep your gut healthy. Foods that cause inflammation should be avoided. Natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric, omega 3 fatty acids, and antioxidants like NAC can help.

4. PCOS after taking the pill

This happens when you stop using your oral contraceptive pills. “After you quit taking the tablets, the artificial Progesterone generates a party in the ovaries,” Pooja says, and this might lead to PCOS. Taking the medications will temporarily alleviate symptoms, but if you stop taking them, your illness will deteriorate.

This type of PCOS is a reversible and transient condition. A good night’s sleep and a low level of stress can assist. Magnesium, vitamin E, vitamin B6, and zinc are all beneficial nutrients.
