Cheap Staycation Destinations for Students

If you’re living as a student, then your finances might be a little bit on the right side. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t occasionally go on holiday. In fact, while you’re studying, making time for yourself might provide you with the focus you need when you get back.

When affordability is a big priority, as it so often is when you’re at university, a staycation makes a lot of sense. You can take out quick loans for students in the short term to pay for your break, without fear of being burdened in the long term. Just make sure that you have a plan for repaying the loan before you take it out.

Fortunately, the UK is rich in would-be destinations for a domestic holiday – which means that you needn’t travel far if you want to find one. You needn’t even own a car or a license!

Let’s take a look at a few standout locations.

Snowdonia

Home to the tallest mountain in Wales, among other things, there’s a great deal to love about Snowdonia. It’s packed with walks through hills and forests, and thus it’s perfect if you prefer your holidays a little more on the active side. Rivers, spectacular cliffsides, and sprawling country estates provide just the antidote required to city life.

The Lake District

The tallest mountain in England is to be found in the northwest, in the famous lake district. There is also, as you might expect, a wealth of lakes to be found, too. Some of the most famous, like Windemere, tend to get a little bit crowded outside of term time – but you can still find seclusion in this part of the country.

Devon

Devon isn’t quite as remote as neighboring Cornwall, but you’ll still be able to track down a pasty or a cream tea should the fancy take you. Devon, and the south coast in general, is best enjoyed during summertime – but that isn’t to say that there isn’t a lot to like at other times of the year.

Belfast

If you’re in Northern Ireland, then taking in Belfast is almost obligatory. The city is rich in culture and history, with plenty of sights to see if you’re intent on simply going for a stroll around the center. Among the city’s historic attractions are those based around the Titanic, including the legendary SS Nomadic and the Titanic Belfast visitor experience.

Liverpool

If you’re in the north of the country, it’s difficult to beat Liverpool when it comes to city breaks. With a range of attractions, river cruises, and Beatles-related distractions, it’s a city that you can easily spend a long weekend exploring. And that’s before you even consider the nightlife.
