Elon Musk met Benjamin Netanyahu while the owner of SpaceX visited the sites of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
The Times of Israel said that the Israeli Prime Minister and Musk went on a tour of an Israeli kibbutz that was destroyed by the attack on October 7. Before the tour, Elon Musk heard about the attacks in Kfar Aza from the head of the local council and a member of the Israeli Defense Forces.
Along with other Israelis whose family members have been held by Hamas in Gaza, Musk will meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog during his trip to the country.
Reuters said that Herzog’s office announced the meeting on Sunday night, adding that “the president will stress the need to act to combat rising antisemitism online” in the meeting.
When Musk makes this move, it’s an interesting time for his bond with Jews. A Twitter user recently said, “Jewish communities have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they say they want people to stop using against them.” The owner of X recently shared this tweet.
Since then, many big brands have pulled their ads from X, including Disney and Paramount. Musk has also sued X.
Before the October 7 strikes, Netanyahu met Musk when he visited a Tesla plant as part of a tour of the U.S. that also included a meeting with President Joe Biden.
This weekend was a big one because the first group of hostages were freed from Gaza six weeks after they were taken. In exchange for a break in the fighting and the return of Palestinian prisoners in the opposite way, the hostages were freed. As part of the original deal between Israel and Hamas, the last group of hostages to be freed is expected to come out of Gaza later. Hamas has said it wants to extend the current four-day ceasefire and free more captives.
