Lionel Messi to Stay at Barcelona for Next Season
The last 10 days were excited with the separation of Lionel Messi and Barcelona. Eventually, all the drama came to an end. The record-breaking six-time world-famous footballer will be at the Nou Camp next season to fulfill his Barca contract.
In an interview with Goal on Friday, Messi confirmed that he will be in Barcelona for the 2020-21 season. Against his willingness, he will be staying only for his contract. However, the frustration of having to stay was expressed in the face of the Argentine forward.

“I thought and was sure that I was free to leave, the president always said that at the end of the season I could decide if I stayed or not,” he said.
On August 25, Messi announced his decision to leave Barcelona via Burofax. Then the brawl started in the football world. Messi’s leave clause is €700 million (£624m/$823million). The Argentine star had the desire, without any trouble to settle the clause. However, Barca is reluctant to accept that. The Catalan club wanted to sell the best forward for a hefty sum.
The same thing was said by La Liga. So in the end, Lionel Messi had to go to court. But Messi does not want to go to the legal battle against his favorite club. He is staying at Barca for one more season as a long-term club.
“When I communicated my wish to leave to my wife and children, it was a brutal drama,” Messi told Goal.
“The whole family began crying, my children did not want to leave Barcelona, nor did they want to change schools.
“But I looked further afield and I want to compete at the highest level, win titles, compete in the Champions League. You can win or lose in it, because it is very difficult, but you have to compete.
“At least compete for it and let us not fall apart in Rome, Liverpool, Lisbon. All that led me to think about that decision that I wanted to carry out,” explained Messi his reasons behind wanting to leave Barcelona.
“I will never go to court against my favorite club,” Messi said. That’s why I decided to stay in Barcelona.
