A deadly Israeli airstrike has massacred over 50 people in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian medical officials. The ruthless bombing marks one of the deadliest attacks since fighting erupted three weeks ago.
Dr. Atef al-Kahlout, director of the Indonesian Hospital in Jabalia, confirmed that more than 50 people were killed in the merciless Israeli raid. The hospital is still counting the number of casualties, as scores of victims remain trapped under rubble.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reported over 50 martyrs and around 150 wounded after Israel bombarded the refugee camp with a barrage of bombs. The ministry said the attack targeted a wide area of homes in Jabalia, causing horrific destruction. An Israeli military spokesperson admitted to the airstrike, claiming it was aimed at a senior Hamas commander in the area. However, Palestinian eyewitnesses described only civilian homes buried under mounds of debris, with dead bodies and wounded victims littered everywhere.
41-year-old Jabalia resident Ragheb Aqal surveyed the bombing’s aftermath, telling reporters he saw massive craters, collapsed buildings, and casualties in huge numbers.
The ruthless attack is just the latest in Israel’s relentless pounding of Gaza, which has killed over 8,500 Palestinians, including more than 3,500 children, since fighting erupted on October 7th.
