How to Get Starlink Internet Connection in Bangladesh?

Starlink

Do you know how to get Starlink Internet connection in Bangladesh? The remainder of the world, including parts of Asia and the entire African continent, is labeled as “Coming Soon” in the screenshot. Starlink may launch in these regions including India and Bangladesh by 2023.

Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite-based internet service, is now available in 32 countries worldwide. The company, which is owned by the renowned Elon Musk, asserts that satellite dishes can be shipped immediately.

Previously, purchasers had to wait several months for a Sterlink satellite dish. SpaceX provided a screenshot of the countries that have the capability to provide Starlink services.

It indicates that Sterlink Internet will be accessible in the majority of European and North American regions. The service will be accessible throughout the entirety of New Zealand, Australia, and portions of South America.

What is Starlink?

Technically a division of SpaceX, Starlink is also the name of the company’s expanding network of orbiting satellites, or “constellation.” This network’s development began in 2015, and the first prototype satellites were launched into orbit in 2018.

In the years since, SpaceX has deployed thousands of Starlink satellites into the constellation via dozens of successful launches, with the most recent occurring on April 21 and delivering 53 additional satellites into low-earth orbit. This brings the total number of launched satellites to 2,388, of which over 2,000 appear to be operational components of the constellation.

What is the speed of Starlink’s internet service?

According to the internet speed-tracking website Ookla, which analyzed satellite internet performance during the fourth quarter of 2021, Starlink offered download speeds exceeding 100Mbps in 15 different countries in 2021, with average speeds in the fourth quarter being higher than in the third quarter. In the United States, Starlink offered average download speeds of approximately 105Mbps and average upload speeds of approximately 12Mbps, which is approximately five to six times faster than the averages for satellite competitors Viasat and HughesNet and just below the average for the entire fixed wireless internet category, which includes satellite and other methods of delivering connectivity to people’s homes without ground-laid infrastructure.

Starlink’s website warns users to expect data speeds ranging from 50 to 150 megabits per second and latency between 20 and 40 milliseconds in most locations over the next several months, as well as brief periods of no connectivity. As more satellites are launched, more ground stations are installed, and our networking software is improved, data speed, latency, and uptime will improve dramatically.

Musk tweeted in February of 2018 that he anticipated the service’s top speed to double to 300Mbps by the end of 2021. Now, in 2022, it is difficult to evaluate such claims because speeds will vary based on location and time.

John Kim of CNET signed up for the service at his California home last year and has recently begun testing it in various locations. He averaged around 78Mbps download speeds and 36ms latency at home.

What is Starlink’s price in Bangladesh?

Starlink is now accepting orders from parts of Asia including Bangladesh and India on a first-come, first-served basis, so you must request service, pay a $99 deposit, and then wait in line. During its beta in 2021, Starlink stated that it could take up to six months to fulfill some preorders; in some regions, Starlink now states that new orders may not be fulfilled until 2023 or later.

The service was initially billed at $99 per month plus taxes and fees, plus an initial payment of $499 for the mountable satellite dish and router that must be installed in your home. In March, despite earlier projections by SpaceX executives that hardware costs would decrease over time, SpaceX increased these prices to $110 per month and $599 upfront for the hardware.

The $110 per month is a lot to pay for an internet connection, especially one that is not even close to as fast as a fiber connection, but Musk is betting that it will be worth it for those who have never had access to a consistently fast connection.

In April of last year, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell stated that Starlink wished to keep pricing as straightforward and simple as possible, and had no plans to implement service tiers. In 2022, however, a new premium tier with a scanning array that is twice as large as the standard plan and download speeds ranging from 150 to 500Mbps is expected to be introduced. This tier costs $500 per month in addition to an initial equipment payment of $2,500. Starlink is currently accepting orders for this tier, with plans to launch the service in 2022.

Starlink service is currently restricted to select regions in select countries, despite the company’s pledge to cover the entire planet by this fall. Nonetheless, the coverage map will expand significantly as more satellites are added to the constellation.

According to Elon Musk, the growing network of satellites in low-earth orbit currently services the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand. The Starlink preorder agreement includes options for requesting service in Italy, Poland, Spain, and Chile, among others.

Starlink will likely require at least 10,000 satellites in orbit before it can claim to provide full service to the majority of the world (and SpaceX has shown signs that it wants as many as 42,000 satellites in the constellation). Currently, coverage is focused on regions between 45 and 53 degrees north latitude, which is approximately 20 percent of the way there at best.

Musk has remained optimistic regarding the Starlink timeline. Musk stated in an interview at the Mobile World Congress in 2021 that Starlink would be available worldwide in August, excluding the North and South Poles. Shotwell expressed a similar sentiment in June and predicted that Starlink would achieve global serviceability this fall.

“We have successfully deployed approximately 1,800 satellites, and once all of these satellites reach their operational orbit, we will have continuous global coverage, which should be around September,” she said.

In September, a Twitter user asked Elon Musk when Starlink’s beta phase would conclude. “Next month,” replied Musk.

Starlink Internet Connection Pros & Cons

Pros

  • More useful than fiber optics

When the user sends a signal, the user terminal sends an electromagnetic wave to the geostationary satellite. The answer is then sent back to the receiver. So, the Internet’s total round-trip distance is 70,000 km, which is 35,000 km plus 35,000 km.

Light is the speed at which electromagnetic waves move (about 3,000 km per second). So, the total round-trip time for satellite internet is 70,000 km / 3,000,000 km/s = 233 milliseconds. The name for this time is “latency delay.” The internet will move more slowly if the latency is longer.

Theoretically, the delay is 233ms, but in real life, it is much more than 300ms because of delays in the system and other outside factors. This can take up to 1500 ms, depending on where you live.

Cable internet, on the other hand, has a delay of 20–40ms. This shows that regular satellite internet is at least 10 times slower than cable internet. Geostationary satellites can’t speed up your internet in any way.

  • High-Speed Starlink Satellite

Starlink is only 550 km above the ground when it is in use. So, an Internet signal from a Starlink dish to a Starlink satellite travels 550 km + 550 km, which adds up to 1100 km.

Where 1100km divided by 300000km/s equals 3.67ms. The delay is 3.67 ms, but in real life, it can be anywhere from 20 to 30 ms because of delays in other parts of the system. In conclusion, Starlink Internet is faster than other types of Internet like satellite and cable.

  • Starlink Can Provide Cheaper Internet

In rural and suburban areas, Starlink can offer internet for less than cable and satellite internet. In many places, people in the suburbs pay the same as people in the city, but their internet is much slower.

People in cities, for example, sometimes pay between $50 and $60 for 100/10 internet (100Mbps received, 10Mbps received). People in rural areas still have to pay more than $100 for internet, but they only get 10/1. (10Mbps input, 1Mbps output). On the other hand, Starlink’s unlimited speed costs only $99.

  • More Mobile And Portable?

Cable Internet is less portable than Starlink Internet. Cell phones are portable, but you can’t use them everywhere. Traditional satellite internet is just as mobile as Starlink, but it is slow, has a lot of lag, and has bad service.

No matter where you live, you will be able to get Starlink Internet. From Antarctica to the middle of the ocean, Starlink covers the whole world. There will be a lot of satellites in low orbit around us. Their signals can get to every place on Earth.

According to Starlink, you can use Starlink Internet whether you’re in a remote suburb, in the middle of the ocean, or in the sky. Cable internet, like Spectrum, is not available everywhere. Only big cities have a lot of services.

The speed of cable internet in rural areas is slow and expensive. It’s definitely true for the internet on your phone. Cellular internet isn’t very good for watching videos or TV shows on sites like YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu.

  • The Starlink device is easy to set up

Setting up the Starlink dish is very easy. Once your order is confirmed, SpaceX will send you a Starlink package with a plate, WiFi router, (optional) mounting brackets, and all the cables you need. Putting in a plate doesn’t require any special skills or knowledge.

Just find a place where you can see the sky well. Put the mounting bracket in place and make sure the Starlink plate is facing up. When turned on, the dish moves so that it gets the best signal. It couldn’t be any easier to set up.

Cons

  • Slow Internet Connectivity In Cities

Starlink isn’t as good as cable internet in one big way. Starlink always has the same number of satellites in the same place at the same time. All users in one place use the same amount of bandwidth.

So the same bandwidth is used by more people in cities than in rural areas. Because of this, Starlink speeds are slower in cities than they are in the suburbs.

  • Problematic Hardware installation

Installation of hardware can be hard for many users. Almost all companies that offer cable or satellite Internet also install equipment. But Starlink does not offer this kind of equipment installation.

So users will have to install their own Starlink plates or pay someone else to do it. Depending on where you are, it can be hard to find the installer.

To connect to the internet, Starlink also needs a clear view of the sky. Putting up Starlink plates can be hard to do if you live in a condo or a high-rise building. Depending on where you live, you may need to put equipment on your roof.

In the city, you might not be able to do this if you rent and your landlord won’t let you put the plate up.

  • It’s Not Fully Portable

Unlike cell internet, Starlink can’t be taken anywhere. We can get on the Internet from anywhere with our cell phones.

Starlink plates, on the other hand, can’t be moved at all. The plate can be put on top of the house or boat, but it’s not small enough to be carried around easily.

  • Weather Conditions Might Affect Internet Connectivity

When it rains, thunder or there are solar storms, satellite communications often break down.

This is not a big problem, though. Even with cable internet, this kind of confusion can happen.

Why are satellites even necessary? Isn’t fiber faster?

Fiber, or internet-delivered via ground-laid fiber-optic cable, offers significantly faster upload and download speeds than satellite internet. However, as companies such as Google will tell you, deploying the infrastructure required to bring fiber to people’s homes is not a quick process. That is not to say that launching satellites into space is simple, but with fewer sharp-elbowed competitors and a lot less red tape to cut through, there is every reason to believe that services like Starlink will reach the majority of underserved communities before fiber ever will. Recent FCC filings also indicate that Starlink could eventually serve as standalone phone service.

Is Starlink trustworthy?

Early reports from publications such as Fast Company and CNBC suggest that Starlink’s first customers are pleased with the service, although the company warns of “brief periods of no connectivity at all” during beta.

DownDetector.com, a website that monitors service disruptions, lists four disruptions to Starlink in 2021, one in each of January, February, and April, with the most recent occurring on May 6. In comparison, DownDetector lists no major outages for HughesNet in 2021 and one for ViaSat in February.

Reddit users from Arizona to Alberta, Canada, reported the May outage; for the majority, service was restored within a few hours.

What about inclement weather and other obstacles?

Certainly one of the disadvantages of satellite internet. According to Starlink’s Frequently Asked Questions, the receiver is capable of melting snow that lands on it, but cannot prevent snow buildup or other obstructions from blocking its line of sight to the satellite.

The FAQ states, “We recommend installing Starlink in a location that prevents snow accumulation and other obstructions from obstructing the field of view.” Heavy rain or wind can also affect your satellite Internet connection, possibly resulting in slower speeds or an infrequent outage.
