Google has expanded the reach of its Gemini app, an AI-powered chatbot, to over 150 countries and territories, including India.
Released on February 8 for Android users, the Gemini app has attracted notice for its creative features. The Gemini app is now available in English, Korean, and Japanese languages to accommodate a wide range of users.
Google’s support page states that the expansion to over 150 countries aims to make AI-driven conversations accessible to a global audience.
It’s worth mentioning that there isn’t a specific app for Gemini on iOS. Now, iPhone users have the option to access Gemini through a toggle in the Google app, which allows them to explore the chatbot‘s features.
For Android users to utilize the Gemini app, they need a phone with at least 4GB of RAM and running on Android 12 or newer versions of Google’s OS. In the same way, iPhone users with iOS 16 or later have the option to engage with the chatbot via the Google app by toggling a switch in the top-right corner. Currently, the app can be used in English, Japanese, and Korean.
The global rollout of Gemini started on Thursday and is set to continue in the coming days, allowing users worldwide to easily incorporate the chatbot into their digital interactions. Users must sign in to a personal Google account or a Workspace account with the feature enabled by the administrator.
Jack Krawczyk, Senior Director of Product at Google in charge of Gemini, discussed certain user concerns. He stated that restrictions on image uploading and generation were being eased, but stressed the importance of responsible alignment on refusals for both images and text. In addition, Krawczyk recognized user feedback about the assistant’s capabilities compared to Google Assistant and promised better communication on features being developed versus those already accessible.
