Federal Probe Ordered into Bollywood Star Sushant Rajput’s Death
India’s Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into the death of Bollywood Star Sushant Singh Rajput. The court also ordered that the evidence collected by the Mumbai police be handed over to the CBI.
Justice Hrishikesh Roy handed down the verdict on Wednesday (August 19) morning. Mumbai Police has also given clear instructions to assist the CBI in the investigation process, report Indian local media.
Shweta Singh Kirti, the elder sister of the late actor, tweeted shortly after the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) launched an investigation into Sushant’s death.
After the death of Bollywood Star Sushant Singh Rajput on 14 June, riots broke out all over India. About a month after the Mumbai police started investigating Sushant’s death, the late actor’s father KK Singh lodged an FIR with the Rajivnagar police station in Bihar.
A FIR was lodged against five people including Riya Chakraborty. Soon after the incident, a team of Bihar police went to Mumbai and started investigation. After the Bihar police team returned from Mumbai, Nitish Kumar Sarkar approached the apex court. An application was made to hand over the investigation of Sushant’s death to the Central Intelligence Agency.
On the other hand, the allegations leveled against Riya Chakraborty by Sushant’s family are baseless, claims Satish Manshinde, the actress’ lawyer. Riya’s lawyer alleges that Sushant’s elder sister Priyanka got drunk and molested Riya Chakraborty.
