Brazil Remains No. 1 Despite Argentina’s FIFA World Cup 2022 Win

Even though Argentina won their first FIFA World Cup since 1986 in Qatar 2022, Brazil will stay on top of the FIFA World Ranking this month. Since February 2022, when they took the top spot from Belgium, Brazil has been number one.

Even though Brazil lost in the quarterfinals, Argentina’s win at the World Cup was not enough to pass them. In the group stage, Brazil won three games and lost to Cameroon. After losing to Croatia in the quarterfinals, they were out of the world football tournament.
Argentina won Copa America in 2021 and is now the world champion, but that wasn’t enough to take the top spot. Wins in overtime are worth more ranking points than wins in shootouts. France or Argentina would have been number one if they had won within 120 minutes, including 30 minutes of extra time.

ESPN says that both Argentina and France have moved up one spot and are now second and third. Belgium dropped two spots to fourth because they didn’t make it out of the group stage. England is still in fifth place after their performance in the quarterfinals. The Netherlands, which also made it to the quarterfinals, fell two spots to sixth.

Both Morocco and Australia moved up 11 spots. The word “responsibility” means figuring out if a person is responsible for his or her own actions. Morocco is ranked 11th, making it the best African team. Australia, on the other hand, is ranked 27th.
On Thursday, the new ranking will be made public.
