Elon Musk Plans to Rebrand Twitter

Elon Musk Temporarily Limits Twitter Users Making it Less Usable

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, revealed today that he intends to redesign the site to reflect the billionaire’s aim of creating a “super app” like China’s WeChat. “And soon, we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” Musk tweeted.

“If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make it go live worldwide tomorrow,” he added in a subsequent tweet.

According to Twitter’s website, its logo, which depicts a blue bird, is “our most recognizable asset,” and “that’s why we’re so protective of it.”

In April, the bird was briefly replaced with Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, which contributed up to $4 billion to the meme coin’s market value.

The term ‘X’ has been on the billionaire’s mind for some time. He had tweeted “Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app” as he welcomed new CEO Linda Yaccarino in April.

He had claimed, “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app” back in October.

Since Tesla billionaire Musk purchased Twitter last year and fired a large portion of its workforce, the social media company has experienced numerous technical problems. The social media business has been making a number of desperate attempts to revitalize the platform as ad income has been rapidly falling.

The business, which continues to lose money, is attempting to develop business models that can replace advertising. The $8 monthly cost of the company’s Twitter Blue premium subscription has not seen much use. This month, Twitter started paying select Twitter Blue subscribers a portion of ad revenue based on how many people interacted with their tweets. Accounts that communicate frequently with Elon Musk were rewarded.

Just a few days ago, Musk introduced xAI, a new artificial intelligence startup whose goal it is to “understand the universe.” Musk now comments on Twitter’s rebranding.

After charging businesses like OpenAI and Google with creating the technology without taking human safety into account, Musk recently announced the creation of xAI.
