Elon Musk Mocks Meta CEO Zuckerberg as Copy Cat for Planning to Launch Twitter Rival

Elon Musk Mocks Mark Zuckerberg

Listen to the Podcast:

Once news of the business working on a Twitter competitor leaked on the internet, Elon Musk claimed that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was a copycat.

Meta Platforms, Facebook’s parent firm, is apparently considering establishing a decentralized social network comparable to Twitter. Elon Musk responded to the news when it was shared on Twitter.

On Twitter, Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, answered before Musk. He shared a meme and asked if Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg decided to establish a Twitter rival because he felt everyone was furious with Elon Musk, who he thought everyone adored.

Elon Musk responded by writing, “Copy Cat.” “. Rather than writing “Cat,” “He utilized a cat emoji in his letters.

Facebook’s new “P92” social network would allow creators and public figures to provide timely updates about their interests. A Meta spokesman stated that the company is considering a standalone, decentralized social media for exchanging text updates but declined to disclose any other information.

The proposed social network would be built on the Mastodon framework, a 2016 open-source, decentralized social network. Mastodon has grown in popularity since Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover began in October.

Meta’s potential foray into social networking comes on the heels of the company’s recent launch of Meta Verified, a membership service for Facebook and Instagram users that includes a verified blue check-mark badge, similar to Twitter Blue, as well as other benefits. Meta Verified costs $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 per month on iOS.

Previously, Zuckerberg expressed interest in blockchain technology and its possible applications. In 2019, he published a blog post outlining his vision for decentralized platforms and their ability to give consumers improved security and privacy.

If Meta decides to establish a decentralized social network, it might signal a substantial departure from the centralized social networking model with which Facebook has long been linked.

Meta’s Plans to Launch Twitter-Rival

According to a MoneyControl report, Meta’s plans for launching Twitter’s rival include a new standalone app for sharing text-based content. According to the source, the app would be built on ActivityPub, a decentralized social networking protocol utilized by other federated apps such as Mastodon. The app’s codename appears to be P92. Also, because the app will be branded as Instagram, users will be able to log in using their Instagram passwords and usernames.

“We’re developing a standalone decentralized social network for sharing text updates,” a Meta representative told MoneyControl. We believe there is a need for a dedicated location where creators and public figures may communicate timely information about their interests.”
