Top 10 Peaks for Climbing and Trekking in Nepal

Nepal, situated on the lap of the beautiful Himalayas, is the ultimate destination for every adventurer. Following the footprint of Tenzing Norge Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary is the movement to be proud of. 

Exploring unique Himalayan Cultures along with the chirping sound of Lophophorous and starting our morning with pure yak-milk tea is just amazing to think. Witnessing the view of child-sun kissing the top of the World is just magical. The beauty of these breathtaking landscapes takes us into heaven. Here are the top 10 trekking peaks in Nepal:-

Island peak climbing (6160 m/20,305 ft)

This peak is also known as Imja Tse, the training peak for the first summit of Everest, i.e., Tenzing Norge Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953. It lies on lmja valley in the Everest region of Eastern Nepal. It has a summit altitude of 6160 meters and a base camp height of 5100 meters. One needs to cross a Crevassed glacier using climbing ropes. The trek will last 16 days which is basically for less experienced climbers. There are spectacular views of giants like Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lotse, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Barantse. The peak is said island peak as it looks like an island gliding in a sea of ice.

Lobuche peak (6119 m/20070 ft)    

Lobuche also lies in the Everest Region. It has two peaks called East Peak and West Peak, where the east peak has an altitude of 6119 meters and the west is at 6145 meters. This peak also lies to Khumbu Glacier, which is seen from Pheriche.

The trek starts from Lukla, passing Phakding, Sagarmatha National Park, Sherpa villages, Rhododendron forest, Tengboche monastery to Gorakshep. We also leave the route to Everest Base Camp, covered with rotten snow. This mountain is technically more challenging than the Island peak. Lobuche provides an authentic mountain climbing experience.

Pharchamo peak (6187 m/20290 ft)

A German climber first climbed Pharchamo peak in 1955 A.D. The snowy mountain is situated on the Tashi Lapcha Pass, passing through the Rowling region to Everest, the least crowded, highly underrated trekking destination in Nepal. One can witness mesmerizing views of Gaurisankhar Himal, Me Lungtse Himal. 

We also bypass Tashi Lapcha pass, Tsho Rolpa Glacier, which drives to remote villages of Rolwing valley. In this way, we also address extinct flora and fauna. The atmosphere of cultural diversity will take us to the next World. We can also observe Mt. Makalu, Mt. Everest, and other peaks from its summit.

Mera Peak Climbing (6476m/21240 ft)

Mera peak lies on the south side of the World´s Highest Peak, in Makalu Region. The trek starts from Lukla, the same trekking route to Everest Base Camp. This trek will take us to less explored, more remote areas in Hinku Valley. The height of Mera Base Camp is 5300 Meter while the summit is at the height of 6476 meters. 

We need to hike through Mera Glacier to reach the summit, where we witness stunning views of Chamlang, Makalu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse covered with heavy snow. The peak is straightforward, while climbers may have the problem of altitude sickness as we summit above 6000m meters.

Kyajo Ri peak (6186 m/20290 ft)

 Kyajo provides a different experience for climbing the mountain, a semi-technical peak between Thame and Gokyo valley. This peak is a less climbed, less crowded peak with fewer hazards. This peak is often compared to Ama Dalam Himal as mixed climbing nature. 

The first camp is at the height of 5350 meters, while the second camp is at 5700 meters. The actual climbing trek begins after the preparation at training Camp. This peak is quite challenging. Proper physical fitness and mountaineering experience are required. You may find many glacier waterfalls in this 20 days trek.

Yala peak (5700 m/18700 ft)

Yala is the perfect introduction for mountaineering in Nepal. This peak is also known as the Heart of the Himalayas. The stunning view of Tibet along with Langtang Lirung (7246m/23770 ft), Dorje Lakpa (6990 m/22930 ft), Gangchempo(6388 m). The peak is situated at the North-East of the Durch, which follows the route from Langtang.

The temperature is relatively freezing with a lack of oxygen. Altitude sickness may be a significant difficulty, and glaciers in someplace may be a matter of interruption for you. The closest park from the peak is Langtang National Park, just 7 hours from Kathmandu. This peak is not technically demanding at all. On the way, you will explore the forest, terraced hill slopes, valleys which will be adventurous.

Pisang peak (6091 m/19978 ft)

Pisang is located in the Northern part of Nepal in the Manang district in the middle of Mt.Annapurna I and Mt.Manasalu. This peak is relatively easy compared to other peaks. It lies just opposite Mt. Annapurna II. A German climber first climbed this mountain in 1955 A.D. 

The trekking route for Pisang passes through Pisang village, which is a uniformly raised slope of ice and snow. From the summit, you will observe the close view of the Annapurna Range. The best season from trekking on these places is March to May and September to December, both in Spring and Autumn.

Chulu West (6419 m/ 21055 ft)

Chulu is one of the challenging mountains for trekking and climbing. Technically straightforward routes are available. This is the perfect peak for mountain climbers and explorers. The trek starts from Besi Sahar, which leaves the Annapurna circuit and goes through Marsyangdi Valley. On the way, you will find barren Uninhabitable land with little vegetation. Here in the base camp, we spend a night to keep our bodies warm for climbing from the next day. 

The best season for Chulu West is March to May(Spring), September to November (Autumn). We will also explore Thorung La Pass (5416m), which touches the edge of the Tibetan plateau. We will also explore World´s deepest Gorge in this trek. Overall this trek is for armature, which is going to be adventurous.

The Naya Kang peak (6012 m/19168 ft)

The Naya Kang peak is placed at the Southern flank of the Langtang Region between Jugal Himal. This peak is also named Ganja La Chul. The beautiful red forest of Rhododendron will amaze your journey. Kang is one of the most challenging mountains to climb as it possesses a very uncertain geographical structure. The regular route for this peak is via the snowy North-East ridge. 

The stunning view of Langtang Lirung (7246 m), Lenpo Gang (7083 m), Dorje Lakpa (6990 m), and Mightly Shishapangma (8027 m) in Tibetan side. This trek is the third-best trekking region after Everest and Annapurna. The fantastic thing about the hike is that we can get the blessing in Monastery near Tibet, introducing Tibetan culture. This trek will give satisfaction to the very next level.

The Dhampus peak (6012 m/19750 ft)

Dhampus is one of the most accessible, effortless climbing peaks in Nepal, situated on the lap of Tukuche Peak and Dhaulagiri Himal. A considerable interfluve ridge separates The Upper Dolpo Region and the Upper Mustang Valley. 

From the top of the peak, we can observe the World´s Seventh highest peak, i.e., Mt.Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and Tukuche peak (6920 m) in the North East and upper Mustang Valley the west. After reaching the summit, you will see a series of Peaks that range from a height of 6500 m to 7500 m, including Sita chuchura, Nilgiri, Tukche peak, Tilicho peak, and many others peaks.
