WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to easily highlight important messages within a conversation.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, and Will Cathcart, the head of WhatsApp, have recently shared on their WhatsApp channels that users can now pin up to three messages at the top of a chat. This feature enables quick access to important information. According to TechCrunch, users were previously limited to pinning only one message since the feature was introduced in December. With this update, you won’t need to save addresses or recipes from friends in separate note files anymore.
In order to comply with the new three-message rule, Meta’s messaging app has also made changes to its Help Center. Not only can you pin text messages, but you can also pin images and polls, ensuring they remain at the top of the chat for either 24 hours, 7 days, or an entire month. By pinning a single message, it will be displayed as the chat banner. However, if you decide to pin more messages, the banner will display the number of pinned messages. When you tap on the banner, the most recent pinned message will appear first.

To pin a message, simply press on it, then select “pin” and choose the desired duration. If you no longer wish to see a message at the top of your chat before the set deadline, you can unpin it using the same method. In December, WhatsApp also added a feature for voice messages that self-destruct, providing an additional level of security and privacy for users. According to a report that circulated earlier this year, there is a possibility that the service might introduce a file sharing feature similar to AirDrop in the future.
