The Viral Story of Oscar Alejandro No One Saw Coming: A Building, a Stranger, and Six Million Views

Viral Story of Oscar Alejandro

It seemed like just another day of filming for Oscar Alejandro Pérez Martínez. Snow covered the streets of Anchorage, Alaska, and his goal was to document the phenomenon of the midnight sun. However, what he didn’t expect was that a spontaneous conversation with a stranger would change his path—and, in part, his career. A man, eating a hot dog at a street stand, approached him out of curiosity about the camera. Upon learning that Oscar was a YouTuber, he offered him a free night at his hotel located in a “very beautiful town with a very interesting story” called Whittier.

Without giving it much thought, Oscar Alejandro accepted. Something about that brief encounter pushed him to follow his intuition. The next day, he rented a car, rescheduled his return flight, and set off toward the unknown. He had no idea he was about to document one of the most unusual and successful stories on his channel.

Whittier turned out to be much more than a picturesque village. What Oscar Alejandro found was a Cold War-era building that, today, houses nearly the entire local population. This peculiar complex functions not only as a residential space but also as a school, supermarket, post office, and community center—all under one roof.

Recognizing the narrative value of the place, he filmed a video titled “The City Where Everything Lives in One Building.” What seemed like an improvised detour in his travel plans quickly became a viral phenomenon, surpassing six million views. The story stunned his audience and further solidified his ability to uncover the extraordinary in the seemingly mundane. It was, without a doubt, proof that in Oscar Alejandro’s universe, the unexpected always has a privileged place.

Oscar Alejandro Faces the Infinite Night: Filming Where the Sun Never Rises

Some journeys challenge the body. Others, the mind. And some—like the one Oscar Alejandro undertook to Barrow, Alaska—demand everything at once. Located in the farthest north inhabited point of the American continent, Barrow is a remote town where the climate reaches extreme conditions: total darkness for weeks and temperatures dropping below -37°C (-34.6°F). Filming there wasn’t just uncomfortable—it was physically dangerous.

Every shot meant enduring bone-chilling cold, frozen eyelashes from the first breath of air, and deserted streets where silence was as deep as the night itself. With no sunlight, no movement, and no visual stimuli, the creative challenge was even greater: how do you craft a compelling visual story where “nothing happens”? Yet, Oscar Alejandro succeeded. His video about the Polar Night became a viral hit, amassing over 11 million views and proving that even in the harshest environments, a powerful story can emerge when there is talent and determination.

Beyond the Map: The Places That Shaped Oscar Alejandro

The Places That Shaped Oscar Alejandro

Not all of Oscar Alejandro’s destinations involve extreme climates. Some have left an emotional mark, becoming personal favorites and experiences he enthusiastically shares with his audience. One such place is Rio de Janeiro—a city that, in his own words, captivated him with its vibrant energy, stunning scenery, and the warmth of its people.

Equally unforgettable was his trip to Cinque Terre, Italy. There, he filmed a video titled “The Real-Life Disney Town,” inspired by the setting of the animated film Luca. Beyond its scenic beauty, that journey carried a personal and emotional component that translated into a piece of content full of authenticity and sensitivity, deeply resonating with his digital community. For Oscar Alejandro, these places are not just points on a map but living chapters of a personal and audiovisual narrative that continues to grow with every step he takes.
