In 2021, sales of India’s developing electric two-wheeler market increased. The high-speed electric two-wheeler market saw a startling surge of more than 425 percent last year, with more than 1.43 lakh units sold. The market is projected to increase more in the coming days as more electric car startups launch in India, the most recent being the Ola Electric.
Hero Electric, the EV arm of Hero MotoCorp, will lead the pack of electric two-wheeler manufacturers in 2021. The top five electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India by sales last year are shown below.
Hero Electric
With a market share of more than 30%, Hero Electric Vehicles remains India’s biggest electric two-wheeler producer. Hero Electric will sell 46,260 electric scooters in 2021. Hero sold 6,058 electric two-wheelers in the month of December alone.
In India, Hero Electric presently sells nine electric scooters. Photon Hx, Optima Hx (dual battery), Optima Hx (single battery), NYX HX (dual battery), Optima LX, Optima LX, Flash LX, and Atria LX are some of the models available. These electric scooters are priced between 46,640 and 74,240 dollars.
Okinawa Autotech
Okinawa, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, completed 2021 as the segment’s second-largest manufacturer. In the electric two-wheeler market, Okinawa now has a market share of more than 20%. Last year, Okinawa sold 29,945 units. However, with 6,098 units sold in December, it became the biggest manufacturer.
For Indian clients, Okinawa now provides six different versions. Electric scooters such as the i-Praise, Praise, Ridge Plus, R30, Lite, and Dual are among them. The scooters have a price range of $59,000 to $1.09 lakh.
Ather Energy
Ather Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, has risen to become one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers. Last year, Ather sold 15,921 electric scooters, giving the company a market share of more than 11%. Ather Energy sold 1,810 electric scooters in December of previous year.
In India, Ather Energy currently offers only two versions. The 450 and 450X versions are among them. The pricing ranges from Rs.1.40 lakh to Rs.1.40 lakh.
Ampere Vehicles
Ampere Vehicles, a Greaves Cotton subsidiary, is India’s fourth largest electric two-wheeler producer. In India, the business sold 12,470 electric scooters in 2021, accounting for more than 8% of the market. Ampere outsold Ather Energy by 3,343 units in December.
For Indian clients, Ampere currently offers five variants. Reo, Reo Elite, Magnus EX, Magnus Pro, and Zeal are among them.
Pure EV
PuREnergy, an electric two-wheeler firm founded only five years ago, has climbed the ranks in a short period of time. Last year, the two-wheeler company under the Pure EV brand became India’s fifth largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer. In 2021, it sold 11,039 units, giving it a market share of more than 7%. It sold 1,684 units in December of last year.
EPluto 7G, Etrance Neo, Etrance, and Etron Plus are the four models that the firm now distributes in India.
