F1 Red Carpet Surprise: Tom Cruise & Brad Pitt Together Again

Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt F1 Premiere

Hollywood icons Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt lit up the red carpet at the London premiere of F1, surprising fans with a rare joint appearance that rekindled nostalgia and raised speculation about a long-awaited collaboration between the two stars.

The event, held on June 23 at Leicester Square, marked a significant moment in film history. It was the first time in 31 years that Cruise and Pitt were seen together publicly since co-starring in Neil Jordan’s 1994 gothic horror film Interview With the Vampire.

Cruise’s Surprise Appearance Delights Fans and Media

Tom Cruise’s presence at the F1 premiere wasn’t officially announced beforehand, making his arrival a surprise not just to fans but to many in the industry. The 62-year-old Mission: Impossible star walked the red carpet and posed alongside Brad Pitt, who plays the lead role in F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick).

The reunion set off a wave of excitement across social media and entertainment outlets. Cruise and Pitt appeared relaxed and cheerful, exchanging laughter and conversation as they greeted photographers and fans.

This public reunion came just weeks after Pitt spoke highly of Cruise in interviews promoting F1, expressing interest in acting alongside him again—though with some reservations.

Flashback to Interview With the Vampire — Their Last Onscreen Team-Up

Cruise and Pitt’s last cinematic appearance together was in Interview With the Vampire, released in 1994. In that film, Cruise portrayed the flamboyant vampire Lestat, while Pitt played the more brooding and tortured Louis.

The film was a commercial success and became a cult favorite, though reports at the time suggested that there was some tension between the two actors due to their contrasting working styles. However, in more recent years, both stars have spoken more fondly about their experience on that film.

Cruise even recalled the pair racing go-karts between scenes while shooting the vampire epic, jokingly admitting he “pitted” Pitt during one of their races, a memory Pitt has said he’s still “bitter” about.

The Missed Ford v Ferrari Collaboration Between Cruise and Pitt

One of the most intriguing parts of this reunion is the revelation of a scrapped film project that would have once again united Cruise and Pitt on screen.

In a recent interview with GQ, F1 director Joseph Kosinski disclosed that he had originally envisioned Cruise and Pitt as co-stars for a high-octane version of “Ford v Ferrari”. The plan was ambitious — both Cruise and Pitt would do their own stunt driving, playing real-life motorsport legends Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles.

Kosinski described the actors’ natural talents behind the wheel and believed the movie would push both their acting and driving skills to the limit. However, the project was ultimately abandoned because the studio rejected Kosinski’s high production budget request — rumored to be well over $200 million. Instead, the movie was later directed by James Mangold, with Matt Damon and Christian Bale taking on the lead roles.

While that version became a hit—earning four Academy Award nominations—fans are now left wondering what could have been if Cruise and Pitt had taken the wheel.

Pitt’s F1 Movie Takes the Wheel

Brad Pitt’s latest project, F1, sees the Oscar-winning actor take on the role of Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver making a comeback to mentor rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Snowfall star Damson Idris.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski and co-produced by Hollywood powerhouses Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, F1 was shot using real racing circuits and cutting-edge cinematography. The production crew captured live footage at real Grand Prix events, including Silverstone, Hungary, and Las Vegas.

Reports indicate Pitt and Idris trained extensively in racing simulators and even drove real Formula 2-style cars on the tracks. Pitt, who previously trained to fly jets for Fury and Top Gun-styled scenes, embraced the challenge of high-speed racing for this role.

“Brad took this incredibly seriously,” said Kosinski. “He was driving at over 180 miles per hour during some of the scenes. It adds an authenticity that you just can’t fake.”

F1 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2025, and is being distributed by Apple Studios and Warner Bros. Early reviews suggest the film will offer a unique blend of character drama and adrenaline-fueled racing action.

Pitt Says He’s Open to Another Movie with Cruise — But With Limits

While promoting F1 in Mexico earlier this month, Brad Pitt spoke to E! News and was asked whether he’d like to work with Cruise again. Pitt responded enthusiastically — with one humorous caveat.

“Well, I’m not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that,” Pitt quipped, referring to Cruise’s famous death-defying stunts, such as clinging to the side of an airborne jet in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation or performing a motorcycle cliff dive in Dead Reckoning.

Pitt added, “So when he does something again that’s on the ground, [then yes].”

The comment drew laughs from fans and underscored the difference in how the two stars approach physical roles: Cruise thrives on high-risk stunts, while Pitt tends to gravitate toward grounded action and drama.

Cruise’s Latest: Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Tom Cruise, meanwhile, returned in May 2025 as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the long-awaited final chapter in the beloved spy franchise. The film smashed franchise records, earning $200 million globally in its opening weekend and grossing more than $540 million to date.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film featured Cruise performing some of his most dangerous stunts to date, including a high-speed train fight and skydiving from a moving plane.

Paramount has touted it as the “end of an era,” though industry insiders speculate that Cruise may continue the series in a new form, possibly as a producer or with a new lead.

Could Another Cruise–Pitt Film Happen?

With both actors at the height of their careers again and F1 renewing interest in their chemistry, industry chatter has reignited around the possibility of Cruise and Pitt co-starring in a major feature again.

Producers like Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski—who have now worked with both stars—could be key players in making that happen. Whether it’s a grounded action film or something completely new, fans would no doubt rush to see two of Hollywood’s biggest stars share the screen again.

A Reunion Years in the Making

The F1 premiere in London wasn’t just a celebration of a new film—it was a historic reunion of two of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt brought back memories of their gothic vampire days, teased what might have been in Ford v Ferrari, and hinted at what could be next.

As Cruise continues to push physical boundaries on screen and Pitt explores grounded, emotionally rich characters, the appetite for a Cruise-Pitt reunion is stronger than ever. The only question now is: Will it happen on the ground… or 30,000 feet in the air?
