5 Warning Signs of Tire Failure

Warning Signs of Tire Failure

When it comes to the proper functioning of your vehicle, in addition to other components, tires are of critical importance. When your car is on the road, you are not only responsible for your own safety but also for the safety of other people on the road. That is why it is important to keep your car in pristine condition, most importantly your tires. In case of an accident, a tire failure expert takes into account quite a few factors which include the age of the tires, their maintenance, and much more. If you are in a similar situation, getting the opinion of a tire failure expert can be very helpful to figure out what went wrong and how can you mitigate this situation. If you want to understand the signs of a possible tire failure, then this article is just what you need. Let’s dive in!

5 Signs of Tire Failure

  • Tire Warning Light

If you have a newer model car, then your car will have the tire warning light. The light U-shaped indicator in your dashboard gives out a warning that one of the tires is running low on pressure. This warning could mean that it is either puncture or it is simply running low on air. This indication can help tire experts find the cause of the accident.

  • Decreased Tread Depth

Tire treads are the gripping power of the tires and the decrease in these means that the tires will have a decreased grip on the road. 1/16th of an inch is the bare minimum depth required for a tire to have a good grip. If the tread depth is found to be less than the required, this could be an indication for the tire expert.

  • Cracked and Weathered Rubber

Your tires also have age and before they are worn out, they are to be replaced. This also depends on the duration for which the car has been running. Over time, the tires dry out and show cracks and this also affects the speed of the car.

  • Wear on One Side

The wear on the side represents that the tire is not completely balanced and it is non-aligned. This shows that one side of the tire comes in contact with the road more as compared to the other sides. This wear on one side can help the tire experts see the real cause of the accident.

  • Wear Bars

It is essential to keep the tires maintained so that you do not have to experience any unusual circumstances. Wear bars appear on the edges of the tires when your tire has experienced wear for a very long time. Treads are the most visible kind of wear on the tire. If wear bars seem noisy, it can be a sign that the tire is malfunctioning or is about to wear out.

Tire experts, when investigating an accident, take into consideration all kinds of tire damages to figure out the reasons for an accident. Predicting tire failure prior can save from a lot of car accidents and mishaps on the roads. That is why it is also recommended not to miss your car appointments as it can save you and other people from physical and monetary damages.
