The Kashmir Files: Do You Know Who are the Key Stars?

The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri is set up to premiere on ZEE5 on May 13 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. It depicts the story of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus and genocide. The narrative is about the gap that still exists in Kashmir’s valleys following the flight of Kashmiri Pandits that ravaged the valley in the early 1990s. It mimics their experience of deprivation, the agony of leaving, the terror of being alive, and the struggle to stay alive. The Kashmir Files got a theatrical release on 26th January 2022, and it is now ready for its digital release on ZEE5 on May 13.

Lead Star Cast:

  • Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt

Mithun takes on the part of Brahma Dutt, a retired J&K area Ex-Divisional Commissioner. In the movie, his character Bramha has witnessed the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. He was close to Pushkar Nath Pandit’s family but despite his best efforts, Pushkar’s family is expelled from Kashmir. So, he carries a heavy burden of shame with him for the rest of his life.

  • Anupam Kher as Pushkar Nath Pandit

Pushkar Nath, a Kashmiri Pandit, is played by Kher. It is one of the most important roles in the movie. Pushkar Nath was Kher’s real-life father’s name. In the film, Pushkar’s family suffered greatly, and he yearned to return to his home in Kashmir but couldn’t! Anupam’s performance in The Kashmir Files is a tribute to his father.

  • Darshan Kumaar as Krishna Pandit

The actor portrayed Krishna Pandit in the film. His character Krishna represents the people who know little about the incident. According to the movie narrative, Darshan’s character Krishna appears to be torn between the right and left wings.

  • Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon

Pallavi Joshi portrays a major antagonist in the film. She portrays Professor Radhika Menon, a JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) professor who inspires her students to fight for ‘Azad Kashmir.’ Professor Nivedita Menon of JNU is the inspiration for the character, who is known for her anti-Indian statements and recitation of anti-national chants at the university.

  • Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Ahmed Dar (Bitta Karate)

Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Ahmed, alias Bitta, plays the villainous character. His skill in martial arts is claimed to have earned him the name “karate.” As a result, he goes by the name Bitta Karate. He became synonymous with terrorism in the Valley during the 1990s. During the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s, he admitted to murdering many Kashmiri Pandits.

The film is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri. He was also part of the movie production including his wife, Pallavi Joshi, Tej Narayan Agarwal, and Abhishek Agarwal. The Kashmir Files will premiere on ZEE5 on 13th May 2022 and will be available to audiences across the world.
